I think it’s pretty well known these days that all of the personal care products sold commercially contain toxic chemical ingredients, even those sold in health food stores use lower quality essential oils which contain a lot of very toxic chemicals. Which makes me wonder… why in the world would someone go to the trouble of making a more natural product and then ruin it with a chemical laden essential oil. It makes no sense to me, not to mention the fact that it is misleading and confusing to consumers to think they’re paying extra for something healthy, when in fact it’s just as bad, if not worse, than a regular product made out of nothing but chemical ingredients.
There is hope!
You can so easily make your own personal care products, and household cleaning products too – taking only a few mere minutes to do! There is no special equipment necessary, and no hard to locate ingredients.
The only thing you really need to have access to is superior quality essential oils. With the hard part taken care of, finding a superior quality essential oil, here’s a super easy recipe for making your own shaving cream…
There are two ingredients you will need to order from Young Living Essential Oils:
1) your essential oil of choice, and
2) the Bath & Shower Gel Base.
You can make this recipe and put it in a jar with a tight fitting lid, or you can get ‘foaming pump’ bottles here. They’re very inexpensive and you may choose to get many so that you can make all-natural shaving cream for gifts to help your friends and family experience too how wonderful it is to live with chemical-free personal care products.
All-Natural Shaving Cream Recipe (for Him or Her)
- 1 bottle Bath & Shower Gel Base
- Choice of YL Essential Oil(s) see link and choices below
- Water
- Foaming Pump Bottle(s) see link and sizes below
- In the foaming pump bottle fill the bottle almost 50% way full with water.
- Then, fill the bottle with the Bath & Shower Gel Base to about 1 inch from the top.
- Add 10-20 drops of your chosen essential oil to the foaming pump bottle. Stir well with a chop stick or metal skewer until well blended. I like to add slightly more water than base because it makes the foam lighter – but use the proportions that you enjoy best.
- Screw the pump back onto the bottle, label the bottle with the name of the essential oil and that it’s “Shaving Cream” – get festive with the label and add a ribbon if it is to be a gift.
That’s it!
Isn’t this simple?
To think that you can do this yourself in just a couple minutes, with no special skills or equipment and have a product that you can feel completely good about is amazing! Kinda makes you wonder why we’ve been spending so much money on products that are not healthy, huh!?
I’m telling ya, you can save so much money making your own essential oil personal care products and household cleaners – it is incredibly easy.
