"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

The aromatic properties of the essential oil blend called Inspiration creates a feeling of being wrapped in a cocoon of spiritual quietness. Calming to the spirit and mind the aromatherapy benefits of Inspiration are welcomed when you’re having trouble coping. Many of the aromatherapy oils in this blend were traditionally used by the Native Americans to enhance spirituality, prayer and inner awareness. Inspiration brings us closer to our spiritual connection and closer to our own inner wisdom.

Learn more about aromatherapy and emotions in this eBook by Evelyn Vincent and David Zarza C.Ht., Working with Emotions: Your Shadow & Aromatherapy.

Inspiration contains these powerful essential oils:

  • Frankincense (Boswellia carteri) stimulates the limbic part of the brain, elevating the mind and helping to overcome stress and despair. It is used in European medicine to combat depression. Frankincense contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain (the center of memory and emotions) and the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands. The hypothalamus is the master gland of the human body, producing many vital hormones including thyroid and growth hormone.
  • Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) is high in sesquiterpenes, which can stimulate the limbic part of the brain, the center of emotions and memory. It stimulates the pineal gland, which releases melatonin, thereby improving thoughts, cognition, and memory. Cedarwood is also very grounding and centering.
  • Spruce (Picea mariana) opens and releases emotional blocks, fostering a sense of balance and grounding. Traditionally, it was believed to possess the frequency of prosperity.
  • Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora) is high in linalool, which has a relaxing, empowering effect. It is very grounding and strengthening.
  • Sandalwood (Santalum album) is high in sesquiterpene compounds which stimulate the pineal gland and the limbic region of the brain, the center of emotions and memory. Used traditionally in yoga and meditation. May help remove negative programming from the cells.
  • Myrtle (Myrtus communis) is energizing, inspiring, elevating, and euphoric.
  • Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) Avoid during pregnancy. Has been used historically under pillows to produce vivid dreams.

Ways to Use Inspiration Essential Oil

Perfume: Wear a drop on back of neck, sides of forehead, crown of head, bottoms of feet, or along spine.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Everyone has experienced lasting adverse impressions that scar our inner self, prohibiting self growth and accomplishment. Inspired by D. Gary Young’s life experiences, the Feelings essential oil collection was designed to lift negative impressions and allow openness to new beginnings through the benefits of aromatherapy.

“Negative experiences and ideas are recorded in our brains and locked into our memories throughout our lives. These memories range from mild to extreme and have a profound effect on our health and happiness. In order to become who we are intended to be, we must erase these negatives and reprogram our thoughts to make positive ideas our reality.” ~ Gary Young

It has been said that when there is a conflict between reason and feeling, human beings will always side with feeling. According to Gary Young, “99% of life’s decisions are made from feelings.” Therefore, if you want your life to be guided by good decisions that lead to health, happiness, and fulfillment, you need to be aware of and in control of your present feelings and to learn how to release the repressed emotions of the past.

Most of our feelings from day to day are not responses to current happenings. They originate from the programming in cellular memory that was imprinted by the emotional experiences of our past that we were unable to understand, process, and resolve at the time.

By focusing on fixing your feelings, you can fix most aspects of your life… physical, mental, and spiritual. Essential oils and aromatherapy are perfect vehicles to help you in this task because their molecules pass directly to the emotional brain and can bring us into contact with the issues we have long forgotten and enable us to deal with them and resolve them.

Gary says, “Use the Feelings Kit. Apply feeling oils before work and every night before bed. Do this for 30 days and you will change your life.”

The Feelings Collection contains these 6 essential oil blends:

  • Valor
  • Harmony
  • Forgiveness
  • Inner Child
  • Release
  • Present Time

VALOR

Put Valor Oil on the soles of both feet at nighttime along with Highest Potential Blend. These blends are effective to erase limited thinking. Valor balances and equalizes the body’s energies thereby increasing oxygen intake to the pineal gland—the seat of our higher intelligence and intuitive faculties. You will wake up in the morning more self assured and more alive to start the day.

HARMONY

Massage one drop of Harmony Oil on each of the energy center points of your body. There are seven of them along the spine: Coccyx, Sacrum, Lumbar, Dorsal (heart), Cervical (where neck meets shoulders), and Medulla (hollow place at center base of skull), and Pineal (center of forehead). You can also massage Harmony on the crown of the head. Harmony balances the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems which, in turn, gives us progressive creativity and feelings of confidence.

“The biggest sin is not having confidence in yourself,” says Gary, “He who lacks confidence lacks life.”

FORGIVENESS

Apply Forgiveness Oil around the navel with the right hand going clockwise several times and think of situations where you need to forgive yourself or others. We beat up on ourselves, but everyone makes mistakes. Yet we struggle to forgive our own mistakes and those of others. Unforgiveness is one of the most common roots of physical, mental, and spiritual disease. Unforgiveness does not make the offending party sick. It makes us sick. Forgiveness is for our own benefit. It is accomplished in five steps.

  1. Forgive yourself for allowing the person to affect your health and happiness.
  2. Forgive the other person for any harm he or she may have caused you. (This need not be done directly with the person being forgiven, but is an inner adjustment on your part.)
  3. Give the other person permission to forgive you.
  4. See the good in the situation.
  5. Be thankful for the experience and the lesson it taught you.

Inhale and apply Forgiveness Oil while going through these steps and repeat as often as necessary toclear the feelings of unforgiveness.

RELEASE

Negative energy goes into the blood and then into the liver for cleansing where the toxins can remain trapped. Thus, the liver becomes a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive feelings. Apply a few drops of Release Oil on your tongue to release the poisons of stored emotions from the liver. Rub Release over the liver area. Drink lots of pure water and do a liver cleanse.

PRESENT TIME

When we live in the past or dwell on the future, we are not being productive in the present. Energize three drops of Present Time by making clockwise circles on the oil in the palm of your hand and then apply it to your thymus (the gland just under your sternum or breastbone). Besides keeping you focused on the tasks of today, this can also help you financially by increasing your abundance consciousness in the present.

INNER CHILD

“When you are a child all things are possible. There are no limitations,” says Gary Young. “When you find your inner child, you have found your true self. The child in you is your creativity.”

Apply one drop of Inner Child onto the pad of your thumb and then place your thumb onto the roof of your mouth. This opens the cranial sutures and stimulates the pineal, pituitary, and other organs of the emotional brain that occupy the space just above the roof of your mouth. Walking backwards while you have your thumb in your mouth looks stupid but it changes the rotation in the pelvis, elongating the spine, and decompressing the discs in your back. Thus, you can clear the nerve channels for energy to flow smoothly throughout your brain and body.

Use the Feelings Kit morning and night for 30 days. You will feel enthusiastic. Your life will be full of excitement. And people will be drawn to you like a magnet. Thought equals frequency. Essential oils absorb our thoughts. They are registered in the oils as intent. Intent is directed energy. When you apply an intent-energized oil on your feet they can saturate all of your cells within 60 seconds, stimulating creative thinking and pushing negative energy out of the cells, thus increasing the frequencies of the cells throughout the body. In that uplifted state you can create a new desire to be better tomorrow. You have no limitations but those you choose to accept.” ~ Gary Young

Following the Feelings regimen, one can begin the path of self identification by aligning their emotions. This collection of essential oils provides the foundation for emotional health.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Lavender Essential OilResearchers in Germany have conducted a controlled study investigating the effects of lavender essential oil on anxiety disorders. Lavender has long been regarded for its soothing and balancing properties.

At the end of the ten-week study, the authors concluded that lavender significantly reduced the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) scores of patients who were treated with the essential oil and not a placebo.

Effectiveness of a Lavender Oil Preparation in Treating Anxiety Disorder

Kasper S, Gastpar M, Müller WE, et al. Silexan, an orally administered Lavandula oil preparation, is effective in the treatment of ‘subsyndromal’ anxiety disorder: a randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled trial. Int Clin Psychopharmacol. 2010;25(5):277-287.

Excerpts:

“According to the authors, all clinical trials published to date that evaluated lavender as a treatment for anxiety were performed in highly specific patient populations (e.g., patients with a terminal illness, in intensive care, or who have situation provoked anxiety), and many of the studies were methodologically flawed. Hence, the purpose of this randomized, double-blind, placebo- controlled multicenter study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of an oral preparation of lavender essential oil.”

“At 10 weeks, the lavender group had a significant reduction in HAMA score compared with baseline (P < 0.001), but the placebo group did not. The lavender-treated patients had a total mean score decrease of 16.0 ± 8.3 points (59.3%) for the HAMA. In contrast, the placebo-treated patients had a decrease of 9.5 ± 9.1 points (35.4%) on HAMA. The anxiolytic effect of lavender was clinically detectable after 2 weeks of treatment and was statistically significant at week 4 and all later visits (P < 0.05). Extrapolating the HAMA total score time course beyond 10 weeks suggests that additional improvements might occur if treatment were to be continued beyond 10 weeks. Lavender treatment was superior to placebo regarding the percentage of responders (76.9% vs. 49.1%, P < 0.001) and remitters (60.6% vs. 42.6%, P = 0.009).

Sleep disturbances frequently accompany anxiety disorders. The lavender treatment had a significant beneficial influence on the patients’ duration and quality of sleep and reduced their daytime tiredness. The lavender-treated patients had a total mean score decrease of 5.5 ± 4.4 points (44.7%) on the PSQI, whereas the placebo-treated patients had a decrease of 3.8 ± 4.1 points (30.9%). The sleep improvement was detectable after 2 weeks of treatment and became statistically significant after 6 weeks of treatment (P ≤ 0.01).”

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

I have been a nurse for 30 years. I’ve also worked as an EMT and a Paramedic.  All very fulfilling.  Helping people to feel better and get well is a very rewarding  job.  I’m hoping to be able to do that here, on our circle blog as well.  My goal is to help you feel empowered, and to know what your options are. Often times, if you are not directly involved in the medical community, you “don’t know what you don’t know”  Let me help you to “know”, and become informed.  A person’s right to determine what type of healthcare they choose is a valuable freedom that no one  has the right to endanger.   If you are seeking answers, I urge you to become informed by reading this article, as well as the future series articles I will be writing.

This article will give you my view on taking prescription medicine verses Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils for your medical ailment.

Most of us have some type of underlying health problem, or have a loved one that does.  Today lets just talk about a very common one:  high blood pressure.  High blood pressure (hypertension), can become a very serious health problem if not treated.

According to the AHA (American Heart Association), your blood pressure measures ”force pushing outwards on your arterial walls”. “The organs in your body need oxygen to survive. Oxygen is carried through the body by the blood. When the heart beats, it creates pressure that pushes blood through a network of tube-shaped arteries and veins, also known as blood vessels and capillaries. The pressure — blood pressure — is the result of two forces. The first force occurs as blood pumps out of the heart and into the arteries that are part of the circulatory system. The second force is created as the heart rests between heart beats. (These two forces are each represented by numbers in a blood pressure reading.)

“The problems from too much force:  Healthy arteries are made of muscle and a semi-flexible tissue that stretches like elastic when the heart pumps blood through them. The more forcefully that blood pumps, the more the arteries stretch to allow blood to easily flow. Over time, if the force of the blood flow is often high, the tissue that makes up the walls of arteries gets stretched beyond its healthy limit. This creates problems in several ways.”

  • Vascular weaknesses
First, the overstretching creates weak places in the vessels, making them more prone to rupture. Problems such as strokes and aneurysms are caused by ruptures in the blood vessels.
  • Vascular scarring
Second, the overstretching can cause tiny tears in the blood vessels that leave scar tissue on the walls of arteries and veins. These tears and the scar tissue are like nets, and can catch debris such as cholesterol, plaque or blood cells traveling in the bloodstream.
  • Increased risk of blood clots
Trapped blood can form clots that can narrow (and sometimes block) the arteries. These clots sometimes break off and block vessels and the blood supply to different parts of the body. When this happens, heart attacks or strokes are often the result.
  • Increased plaque build-up
The same principle applies to our blood flow. Cholesterol and plaque build-up in the arteries and veins cause the blood flow to become limited or even cut off altogether. As this happens, pressure is increased on the rest of the system, forcing the heart to work harder to deliver blood to your body. Additionally, if pieces of plaque break off and travel to other parts of the body, or if the build-up completely blocks the vessel, then heart attacks and strokes occur.
  • Tissue and organ damage from narrowed and blocked arteries
Ultimately, the arteries and veins on the other side of the blockage do not receive enough freshly oxygenated blood, which results in tissue damage.
  • Increased workload on the circulatory system
Think of it this way: In a home where several faucets are open and running, the water pressure flowing out of any one faucet is lower. But when pipes get clogged and therefore narrow, the pressure is much greater. And if all the household water is flowing through only one faucet, the pressure is higher still.”When the arteries are not as elastic because of the build-up of cholesterol or plaque or because of scarring, the heart pumps harder to get blood into the arteries. Over time, this increased work can result in damage to the heart itself. The muscles and valves in the heart can become damaged and heart failure can result.”"Damage to the vessels that supply blood to your kidneys and brain may negatively affect these organs”.”You may not feel that anything is wrong, but high blood pressure can permanently damage your heart, brain, eyes and kidneys before you feel anything. High blood pressure can often lead to heart attack and heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and other health consequences.”

I know at least 35 people that take medication for high blood pressure.  Let’s remember that every single prescription medication on the market come with a long list of undesirable side effects.  Every single one.  Every single person I know on these medications complains daily of most of these  most common side effects:

  • Lightheaded and or dizziness
  • chronic dry cough
  • dry mouth
  • Headaches
  • Vomiting and or nauseated feeling
  • Anxiety
  • weight gain
  • Rash on the skin
  • Lethargic, fatigue, weak, sleepy and or drowsy
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Racing heart
  • Pain and or discomfort in the chest
  • Flu symptoms
  • 70% of men will suffer from erectile dysfunction
  • trigger fatigue and asthma and are not appropriate for people with breathing difficulties
  • increased blood potassium,
  • changes in the flavor of foods
  • swelling of lower legs and feet
  • back and leg pain,
  • sinus congestion,
  • kidney failure,
  • liver failure,
  • allergic reaction,
  • lowered white blood cells,
  • swelling.
  • Cold hands,
  • fatigue, and weakness.
  • drowsiness,
  • flushing,
  • nausea,
  • rapid pulse,
  • swelling in the lower legs and feet.
  • Some calcium channel blockers react with grapefruit and foods that contain grapefruit by blocking the liver from properly removing them from the blood – resulting in dangerous concentrations of your medicine.
  • impaired thinking,

Did your doctor tell you all of this before prescribing your blood pressure medicine?  Did he tell you that , sadly, all anti-hypertensive medications do not cure high blood pressure  but mask, or merely regulate it. What this means for you is,  you have to take them everyday for the rest of your life.  If you don’t, your blood pressure will climb back up to the dangerous level it was at before.  Of course, this is assuming the medication worked for you at all.  If he did tell you all of the possible side effects, and that you would be on it for life, did it make you uncomfortable?  I suspect it did, however, as intimidating as doctors are, you probably felt you had no choice, and you were also probably too afraid to challenge your doctor and ask what your other options were, if any.

Think about this…. when is the last time you heard of someone successfully coming off of blood pressure medicine?  Or heart medicine, diabetes medicine, or cholesterol medicine?  Is your answer “never”?

I know,  because I too used to be caught in that vicious never ending cycle of prescription medication.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked all of my doctors, and I trusted them.  The problem here, in my opinion, is that the Pharmaceutical companies and their drug reps have created a situation that does not benefit anyone except them.  As they become multi billion dollar profit companies, you go broke paying for their medication without ever curing the underlying problem, thereby staying on the medication forever. Once you get on the hamster wheel and start taking 1 blood pressure medicine, if that 1 medicine doesn’t work, you are switched to another prescription medicine, and so on, and so on.  It is a self perpetuating cycle, planned out so that you never come off the prescription medication hamster wheel.

Think about it… does your insurance cover nutritional counceling, healthy appropriate excercise, weight management, emotional balancing and relaxation?  Do they tell you about alternative medicine in the form of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils?  No, they do not.  If they did, you might get off the prescription hamster wheel, and others may follow you, and they would not be able to afford their new yacht, or trip to Italy.  We can’t have that now, can we?

Many natural, alternative choices are out there to help you lower your blood pressure naturally,  without having to take these prescription medications and putting up with nasty side effects.

The only catch is that you, and only you, need to make that commitment, and to understand that alternative therapies take time, practice, and trust . It also often  requires a change in diet and lifestyle.

I took charge of my life, and my body.  I decided to change my own path to wellness, and start taking care of and making my own decisions regarding my body, my health,  and you can too.  If you don’t like what your doctor offers you as a form of treatment, say “NO”!   Tell them that the laundry list of side effects from a certain medicine is unacceptable, and you want to know what your other options are.  Don’t be afraid to take charge of your own body.

Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils offer many people hope where there was none before.  Young Living offers you choices that come without negative side effects.  They offer you a chance at  working on your disease, a chance at peace, a chance to be well, a chance to get off the hamster wheel.

Some of the Young Living Essential Oils people have successfully used when they were diagnosed with hypertension are: Omega Blue Softgels, dried wolfberies, clove,  Lavender,  marjoram,  ylang ylang,  cypress,  Aroma Life,  Peace & Calming,  Citrus Fresh, Humility,  CardiaCare,  ImmuPro,  ImmuneTune, S uper B,  Mineral Essence, Super Cal,  Balance Complete,  Mega Cal,  CardiaCare,  NinxGia Red Wolfberry,  potassium, Super C,  and magnesium.  This is just a sample of the essential oils and supplements Young Living offers  for you to consider in place of  or in conjunction with prescription high blood pressure (hypertension) medications, there are others.  Let’s also remember that not every Essential Oil will work for every person every time, just like prescription medicine,  that’s why there is more then 1 choice.

Anyone with hypertension should use caution using oils high in ketones, such as basil, rosemary, sage and tansy oils.

Natural Approach to Hypertension

by Farhang Khosh, ND and Mehdi Khosh, ND
Abstract
Hypertension is a common problem facing many Americans today, with two million new cases being diagnosed each year. Although billions of dollars are spent annually in the United States for the treatment and detection of cardiovascular disease, current conventional treatments have done little to reduce the number of patients with hypertension. Alternative medicine offers an effective way to decrease the rising number of people with high blood pressure. Research has found a variety of alternative therapies to be successful in reducing high blood pressure including diet, exercise, stress management, supplements, and herbs.
Fish Oils Recommended for Heart Disease Prevention

DALLAS, TEXAS. The American Heart Association has reviewed the benefits of regular consumption of fish and fish oils. The review concludes that fish and fish oils help prevent cardiovascular disease including fatal and non-fatal heart attacks, strokes, sudden cardiac death, and coronary artery disease (angina). The reviewers believe that the mechanisms by which fish oils exert their protective effect include:

  • Reduction in susceptibility to ventricular arrhythmia
  • Decrease in platelet aggregation
  • Reduction in triglyceride levels
  • Retardation of atherosclerosis
  • Lowering of blood pressure
  • Promotion of nitric oxide induced endothelial relaxation
  • Anti-inflammatory effects.

The effects of the inhalation method using essential oils on blood pressure and stress responses of clients with essential hypertension
Department of Nursing, Geochang Provincial College, Geochang-gun, Gyungnam, Korea.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of aromatherapy on blood pressure and stress responses of clients with essential hypertension.
METHOD: There were fifty-two subjects divided into an essential oil group, placebo group, and control group by random assignment. The application of aromatherapy was the inhalation method of blending oils with lavender, ylangylang, and bergamot once daily for 4 weeks. To evaluate the effects of aromatherapy, blood pressure and pulse were measured two times a week and serum cortisol levels, catecholamine levels, subjective stress, and state anxiety were measured before and after treatment in the three groups. Data was analyzed by repeated measures of ANOVA, one-way ANOVA, and chi(2)-test using the SPSS 10.0 program.
RESULTS: The blood pressure, pulse, subjective stress, state anxiety, and serum cortisol levels among the three groups were significantly statistically different. The differences of catecholamine among the three groups were not significant statistically.
CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the inhalation method using essential oils can be considered an effective nursing intervention that reduces psychological stress responses and serum cortisol levels, as well as the blood pressure of clients with essential hypertension.
Vitamin C May Lower Blood Pressure
The Lancet December 18, 1999;354.
High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease, the leading cause of death in both men and women in the United States. Close to 50 million Americans have high blood pressure. The study of 45 people with high blood pressure (hypertension) had the levels fall by about 9.1% if they consumed a 500-milligram supplement of vitamin C each day for a month.

Recently I had a severe panic attack, thinking someone had broken into our home. Even after I had checked the house, and felt certain no one had broken in, I could not shake the fear, anxiety or panic attack I was still having. I was sweating, my heart was racing, and I was still experiencing that panic fight or flight response, which is actually an Epinephrine rush.
I had already applied Young Living Essential Oils Peace and Calming, as well as Tranquil and Release. My panic attack would not go away. The anxiety was still front and center. I was still completely on edge and as jumpy as a cat on a hot tin roof. I applied Young Living Essential Oil Black Pepper. Within 10 minutes, that edgyness was gone, and slowly but surely, minute by minute, I began to relax. I felt the anxiety, the panic attack finally start to abate. I began to relax, my heart rate returning to normal. I’ve subsequently applied Black pepper to vitaflex points, as well as my wrists and forehead before I’m about to do something that always results in panic, like flying, or driving over very high bridges. It’s working. I’ve come to associate black pepper with a “black hole”. Anything that has the possibility of putting me in that bad, panic anxiety filled place, I apply black pepper with one of the other calming oils Young Living makes, and I’m getting much better results. Black Pepper is the “icing on the cake” if you will. I also believe based on the way Black Pepper worked for me, that it would be a fantastic oil in conjunction with another calming oil for people suffering from Stage Fright, which is a form of panic attack. Try adding Young Living Essential Oil Black Pepper to which ever calming and relaxing oil works best for you to assist in getting out of and releasing those panic attack, anxiety, negative feelings you get from time to time. I firmly feel if I had not added the Black Pepper Oil I never would have been able to go to sleep that night. Remember, link black Pepper to “black hole” in your mind, and hopefully the Black Pepper will be the finishing oil to relieving your anxiety as it has for me. I applied this oil neat to vitaflex points. I don’t ever use a carrier oil, and have never had any skin sensitivity. Depending on your own skin sensitivity, you may want to use a carrier oil, or one of Young Living’s calming Oil as your carrier oil.
