Essential oils are both mysterious and miraculous. They are so complex and contain hundreds – or even thousands of different chemical compounds/constituents, and to date no essential oil has had all of its compounds identified.  They can contain an infinite combination of alcohols, esters, aldehydes, ethers, ketones, acids, phenols, and terpenes.

The chemical composition and aroma of essential oils may provide valuable psychological and physical therapeutic benefits. These benefits are usually achieved through methods including inhalation, internally, or application of essential oils either “neet”, on the skin, or the use of a carrier oil with the essential oil applied to the skin. (Read more on “How to Use”)

Essential oils are aromatic volatile liquids distilled and extracted from many parts of a plant including, but not limited to, the stems, roots, branches, fruits, flowers, seeds, roots, bark, needles, oleo-gum resins and leaves. The key to producing a therapeutic-grade essential oil is to preserve as many of the delicate aromatic compounds within the essential oil as possible.

Essential oils are highly concentrated and far more potent than dried herbs. Essential oils are also different from vegetable oils such as corn oil, peanut oil, and olive oil.  They are not greasy and do not clog the pores like many vegetable oils can.

Essential oils and human blood share several common properties:  They fight infection, contain hormone-like compounds, and initiate regeneration.  Essential oils have a chemical structure that is similar to that found in human cells and tissues.  This makes essential oils compatible with human protein and enables them to be readily identified and accepted by the body. A Statistical Validation of Raindrop Technique by David Stewart, Ph.D., R.A.

Abstract

During the past ten years, Raindrop Technique has become a widely used therapeutic protocol throughout the United States. Numerous anecdotal accounts relate the significant and substantive benefits generated by this procedure. Raindrop Technique has been use to ameloriate cases of viral infection, kyphosis, scoliosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and many other conditions.

As its popularity and usage have increased, a small group of aromatherapists has questioned the use of the procedure and its reliance on undiluted therapeutic-grade essential oils. So, in an effort to statistically validate the benefit (or lack thereof) of the Raindrop Technique, I circulated a questionnaire in late 2001 among several thousand aromatherapists, health practitioners, and users of essential oils to poll those who receive Raindrop and those who perform it. This study summarizes the experiences of more than 14,000 sessions of Raindrop. Raindrop Technique

Of the 422 adults who responded to the survey, 370 were female and 52 were male. They represented 39 states of the United States, 5 provinces of Canada, and 5 other countries. 265 were facilitators, 259 were both facilitators and receivers, 157 were receivers only. Among the 416 receivers, a total of 3,584 Raindrop procedures were experienced (mean value = 8.6 treatments each). Among the 265 facilitators, a total of 11,256 procedures were reported (mean value = 42.5 each). Receivers reported their Raindrop experiences to be Positive (97%), Pleasant (98%), Resulted in healing (16%), Felt better afterwards (98%), Improved health (89%), and Improved emotional state (86%). 99.9% of receivers said they would receive Raindrop again. "There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

The Raindrop Technique, developed by Gary Young and a Lakota medicine man almost two decades ago, uses a sequence of nine highly immune enhancing essential oils. The essential oils are dropped like rain from a height of about 6 inches onto the spine and then lightly massaged in using various hand to body techniques. This stimulates energy impulses and disperses the oils along the nervous system throughout the entire body. Raindrop Technique Essential Oils collection.

We all carry immune system depleting viruses and bacteria. Essential oils applied to the spinal column are absorbed through the nerves that feed the entire body. Wonderfully soothing, nurturing and relaxing, the Raindrop Technique can work its benefits in the body for days, weeks or months. With essential oils applied via the Raindrop Technique, the body can be brought into balance and the energy centers can be cleared and re-aligned. The Raindrop Technique also helps reduce spinal inflammation, creates an inhospitable environment for the viruses that hibernate along the spinal column, and may help to straighten any spinal curvatures. Although a session lasts about 45 minutes to an hour, the oils will continue to work in the body for a minimum of a week following the treatment.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Grief and sorrow come to all of us at sometime in our lives.  They are not times we care to experience or to wish upon others, but it is inevitable that we will experience awful times of sorrow and grief. To be able to get through these powerful feelings and emotions can be very difficult and even more difficult for others.

5 Ways to deal with grief or sorrow:

  1. Talk to family or friends. Reach out to them, by calling them. It can be difficult to pick up the phone, but it is important for you to be able to have someone to talk to.  If you don’t have someone, call a church or a hospital to find out about support groups.  Yes, it is easier to be alone, and that is OK, but not all of the time.  We do need someone to talk with, or to listen to.
  2. Read self help books or inspirational books that relate to what you are going through. Or listen to them on tape, if you are having a hard time focusing. Listening to the words can be a great help too.  Sometimes this can be a much easier way to take in the helpful words.  We may be able to comprehend better than when we read, because when we are in a deep place of grief it can be difficult to focus on words.
  3. Getting out in nature, going for walks, or even for drives to pretty places, can help us to reflect on the beauty around us and remind us of other blessings in our lives. Remember if you are able to go for walks to breath in the fresh air.  Fresh air is invigorating, intoxicating and down right good for our body and well being.
  4. Aromatherapy is natural way of achieving optimal emotional and physical health. The fragrance of an essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. Thus, a therapeutic essential oil can affect our feelings and thoughts because smell is our most emotional sense. Scent stimulates nerves to fire in the emotional center of the brain, but it also stimulates the master gland to release hormones. Hormones affect the fight/flight response, as well as digestion and heart rate. In this way, essential oils can affect us in many ways all at once, just through their fragrance.  Aromatherapy is a very positive way that may help to heal from emotional pain.*
  5. Raindrop Technique utilizing emotional essential oil blends of therapeutic-grade essential oils, could also be an excellent way to move to healing from grief and sorrow.  Raindrop Technique is a simple practice that can be learned and may be very beneficial for emotional healing and physical healing. old-growth-cedar-woodsSchizophrenia is one of the top 10 worst diseases, according to the Health and Life medical blog. Those dealing with Schizophrenia, and those dealing with a Schizophrenic loved one know just how devastating this disease can be for everyone involved. A mental disorder can ruin the lives of its possessor and the lives of family members involved. Although big pharma has medication that can help tame the minds and dispositions of those with mental problems, and help them live somewhat normal lives, the medications only provide help when they are taken. Unfortunately, many people with mental problems do not like the feeling they experience while on these medications and they consistently cycle on and off of the medications. Many ask, is there anything naturally that can be done to help these people, and the answer is absolutely!

In the book, Natural Remedies Encyclopedia, an accumulation of heavy metals in the body is said to be one causes of some mental disorders. Copper, lead, and mercury specifically are associated with schizophrenia. Read the rest of this entry »

According to Dr. Mercola in his recent article, “Deadlier then Cocaine, Heroin, and the Swine Flu“, pain killers are killing thousands of people yearly.  Apparently, prescription drugs kill more then 26,000 people yearly. To quote:

“In fact, prescription drugs cause most of the more than 26,000 fatal overdoses each year, says Leonard Paulozzi of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The number of overdose deaths from opioid painkillers — opium-like drugs that include morphine and codeine — more than tripled from 1999 to 2006, to 13,800 deaths that year, according to recently released CDC statistics.

In the past, most overdoses were due to illegal narcotics, such as heroin, with most deaths in big cities. Prescription painkillers have now surpassed heroin and cocaine however, as the leading cause of fatal overdoses, Paulozzi says.”health-davinci-man-people

I guess if you are dead, then the pain is gone, but I don’t think that was the objective for many of these unfortunate people nor the pain killer! Apparently, one of the big reasons so many people are needing painkillers is because they are overweight, and as they age their joints begin to give them more and more trouble. This is so sad! What is more sad is there are natural, safer products out there and for many people these alternatives may do the trick perfectly. It is always so much better to use natural medicine for pain when you can. In my article, Pharmaceuticals, friends or foes? I pointed out the healthy body has a higher frequency of around 62 to 70 megahertz. Drugs have a very low frequency which, over use and time can drag the body’s frequency down, and when the body’s frequency lowers, sickness and disease can set in. What is furthermore, is things we ingest into the body with low frequencies can have a very difficult time getting back out of the body. According the the School of Natural Healing, drugs such as headache medicine which can get past the blood brain barrier and into the brain have no way of getting back out. Alzheimer’s is such a horrific disease and is such anguish not only for those that suffer with the disease but also for loved ones that are coping with helping a loved one.  So what can we do to ease the anguish that all parties are going through?

Easing the feelings that are associated with Alzheimer’s, like the feeling of stress, anxiousness and anger, can be a big help.  Several ways that may help are by using therapeutic-grade essential oils.

Over 4 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer’s.  Aluminum continues to be linked to Alzheimer’s yet older Americans are urged to get yearly flu shots which contain aluminum as an adjutant.  Another important chemical to remove from anyone’s life is aspartame.

Essential oils that are high in sesquiterpene’s, are known to cross the blood-brain barrier, and can dramatically increase oxygenation and activity in the brain. In studies conducted at Vienna and Berlin Universities, researchers found that sesquiterpene’s, found in essential oils, such as vetiver, patchouli, cedarwood, sandalwood and frankincense, can increase levels of oxygen in the brain by up to 28 percent (Nasel, 1992).  Such an increase in brain oxygen may lead to a heightened level of activity in the hypothalamus and limbic systems of the brain, which can have dramatic effects on not only emotions, learning, and attitude, but also many physical processes of the body, such as immune function, hormone balance, and energy levels.

The fragrance of many essential oils exerts a powerful stimulus on the limbic system—a part of the brain located on the margin of the cerebral cortex, including the amygdala, hippocampus, and hypophysis which interact directly with the thalamus and hypothalamus.  Acting together, these glands and brain components combined are the seat of memory, emotions, and sexual arousal.  They also govern aggressive behavior.

The ability of essential oils to pass the blood-brain barrier gives them enormous therapeutic potential against such neurological diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Lou Gehrigs’s and MS.

Stress is a biological term for the consequences of the failure of a human or animal to respond appropriately to emotional or physical threats.   Common stress symptoms include irritability, muscular tension, anxiousness, inability to concentrate and a variety of physical reactions, such as headaches and elevated heart rate.

Young Living has many therapeutic-grade essential oils that may help to lessen stress and anxiousness.  It is very important to Note: All essential oils are NOT created equal. Most essential oils are of lower quality. Therefore, do NOT use the information provided here for other brands. Learn why quality is so important.

Here are two ways of utilizing the therapeutic value of the essential oil to help with stress and anxiousness.nebulizer-diffuser

  1. Diffusing the essential oil.  Read more on diffusing.
  2. Applying to the soles of the feet. Read more on applying essential oils to the bottoms of feet. Massage 1-2 drops with a carrier oil such as V6  to the soles of the feet and paying particular attention to the brain reflex center (center part of the bottom part of the big toe) and apply mild direct pressure.
  3. V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex is used to dilute certain essential oils and can be mixed to create custom blends, formulas, and massage oils. This oil complex nourishes the skin, has a long shelf life, doesn’t clog pores, and will not stain clothes.

As stated previously in this article; essential oils that are high in sesquiterpens, are known to cross the blood-brain barrier, and can dramatically increase oxygenation and activity in the brain. This ability of essential oils to pass the blood-brain barrier gives them enormous therapeutic potential against such neurological diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Lou Gehrigs’s and MS.

Here is a list of essential oils that may be helpful to lessen stress and anxiety.  Once again the application would be by diffusing and applying the essential oil to the soles of the feet.foot-massage
