Hope essential oil with rainbow.I have heard stories that essential oils don’t work. Guess what, allopathic medicine doesn’t always work either. Have you heard the news that antibiotics, such as penicillin, is at the end of the road? Have you heard about MRSA and other resistant superbugs (which, by the way, have evolved because of the overuse of antibiotics)?

Briefly, allopathic medicine takes what is found in nature (mostly from plants, like the white willow), extracts what it believes is the key component(salicylic acid) to create a new drug (aspirin) to fight some disease. This is kind of like removing everything from a car except the engine – it may run but it won’t get you anywhere and after a while it will just stop working.

Each and every one of us is on this planet for a reason. I don’t know what it is, but I believe we are. We each have our unique challenges to overcome and goals to accomplish. While we all share the same basic body shape and body chemistry, each of us is slightly different. We are different ages, have different stresses in our lives, consume different foods and drinks, have different genetic makeups and genetic history. Because we are just a little bit different, each of our bodies react differently to the same situation, condition or food.

Allopathic medicine is now discussing and trying to develop medicine that is targeted to each individual – meaning that the medicine I would get for the flu is created just for me and wouldn’t work for you (I smell something fishy going on here). This is called - Pharmacogenomics. Read the rest of this entry »

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

There are three Young Living supplements that have been quite useful in addressing pain – BLM, Sulfurzyme and Coral Sea. When taken together, these supplements work synergistically to nourish and build the health of our muscoskeletal systems. BLM supplement

BLM

Formulated from the most potent, natural ingredients known, BLM protects mobility and the health of your Bones Ligaments and Muscles.

Key ingredients include: Collagen Type II, MSM, glucosamine sulfate, manganese citrate and the essential oils of Clove, Idaho Balsam Fir and Wintergreen.

Idaho Balsam Fir is one of the richest sources of limonene, a powerful antioxidant that may help ease stress and tension in joints and in the muscoskeletal system. More on BLM.

Sulfurzyme Sulfurzyme supplement

Sulfurzyme is a terrific supplement and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular – MSM, a key ingredient in Sulfurzyme, which has been proven to be extremely effective in relieving pain, especially tissue and joint pain. MSM is also a source of organic sulfur (not to be confused with sulfa), shown to reduce the inflammation of arthritis, relieve muscle spasms, improve blood flow and deliver biologically active sulfur to the joints.

Because MSM is not absorbed well unless it is taken with high levels of Vitamin C, amino acids and protein, Sulfurzyme includes Chinese wolfberries which contain all three!

How MSM works to control pain: When fluid pressure inside the cell is higher than the outside pressure, pain is experienced. The MSM found in Sulfurzyme equalizes fluid pressure by affecting the protein envelope of the cell so that water transfers freely in and out. More on Sulfurzyme.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Barbecues and camping is part of summertime fun. Sometimes our fun can result in discomfort from burns, scrapes, cuts, rashes or bug bites. It can turn into an ordeal if you are not prepared for the unknown. But fear not, you can get prepared easily,  without “breaking the bank” AND with natural products.

Here are ideas of what to do for first aide.

  • Lavender essential oil. Lavender  may be used for many first aide circumstances.  If you get a burn from the fire, or a sunburn from the too much sun, Lavender is the answer.  All you need to do is apply Lavender topically on the area of concern.
  • LavaDerm Cooling Mist. Most excellent to spray on sunburns, rashes and burns.  If you do get a burn, throughout the day, spray LavaDerm Cooling Mist and apply Lavender essential oil. It is best to first start doing this every half hour and as the day goes on, spread the time of application out.  You will be happy with the results.
  • Put a drop of Lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite, this may help to stop itching and reduce swelling. Read the rest of this entry »

Systemic Lupus, arthritis, fatigue, pain constant chronic have been a daily part of my life for the last 20 years. I have wonderful doctors who have managed my disease as well as everything that comes with it, I am so grateful that I am blessed to have these wonderful doctors treating me. The one thing that no one has successfully managed is my pain. Although I used pain patches with oral pain killers, sadly the most they ever did was “take the edge off”. I was introduced to Young Living Essential Oils, They have had a positive profound impact in my life. I rarely use pain patches at all, have gone from eight plus heavy painkillers a day to 1 or 2, some days none!

I use a blend of Young Living Essential Oil anti-inflammatory oils (clove, oregano, Nutmeg, lemon, rosemary, basil, chamomile, lavander, peppermint with a few others) on my affected muscles, joints as well as my spine. Typically within 3-5 minutes at most I start to feel relief, shortly there after I am pain free. In 60 days my Sedimentation Rate has dropped 30 points and I no longer take ANY oral anti-inflammatory medicine!

Additionally, I was previously on a chemotherapy drug called Methotrexate to manage my disease. I am now off of Methotrexate for the last 30 days, I do not plan on restarting it. And, let’s be honest, when you’re in pain, chronically, it affects your mood and appearance to others. I can honestly say I am now in a better, if not good, jovial, happy uplifted mood almost every day. It just feels amazingly wonderful to be pain free the majority of the time for the first time in 20 years. Read the rest of this entry »

Essential oils are important to have on hand for camping.. Many times we may go unprepared and regret having left some items at home, so it’s nice to have a list to be reassured and not leave home without important items, especially for first aide.

It is most likely that there will be pesky bugs, lots of sun and maybe even a scrape or two. Perhaps while roasting marshmallow’s someone could get a burn from the hot marshmallow or a sunburn from too much sun. So, it’s definitely a good idea to be prepared for the unexpected that we hope won’t happen while camping.

The following is a list of essential oils to take along and how to use them for various situations. After each application, always follow with smelling the essential oil with the remainder of the scent that is on your hands, cup your hands over your nose and take several nice long deep inhalations. (Be mindful to not touch your face with your hands, just cup your hands about an inch away from your nose and face.)

Creating a compress can be very useful for some situations where a little heat with your chosen essential oil might provide just what you’re needing.

  • Rub 1 – 3 drops essential oil on the location diluted with 1 TBLS carrier oil such as V-6.
  • Cover the location with a hot, damp towel.
  • Cover the moist towel with a dry towel for 10 – 30 minutes, depending on individual need.

As the essential oil penetrates the skin, you may experience a warming or even a burning sensation, especially in areas where the greatest benefits occur. If burning becomes uncomfortable, apply a carrier oil such as V-6 Massage Oil, or any pure vegetable oil such as olive or almond, to the location. Applying a hot compress

Good single essential oils for warm compresses are: Copaiba, lavender, geranium, goldenrod, Idaho Balsam Fir, pine, spruce, Ravensara, hyssop, myrrh, eucalyptus.

Good blends for a warm compress are: R.C., Melrose, Di-Gize, Dragon Time, JuvaFlex, Release, Relieve It, Sensation, Aroma Seiz, En-R-Gee, PanAway.

Note: Therapeutic-grade essential oils, such as Young Living, are the only type of essential oils that should be used for healing compresses. It is not advised to use aromatherapy oils either as results will not be desirable.

Caution: Essential Oils that would not be good for hot compresses, unless very diluted with a carrier oil, are any essential oils that are considered hot (spicy), such as; cinnamon, clove, peppermint, thyme, oregano, black pepper, marjoram, Thieves (blend).

A second type of application is very mild and is suitable for children (not infants), or those with sensitive skin. Read the rest of this entry »

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Aromatherapy is far more than scented candles and fragrance products. It is the act of applying topically and inhaling a specific type of essential oils, therapeutic-grade (the highest quality). Since the beginning of Aromatherapy, the practice has encompassed human pathology and the treatment of different conditions (emotional and physical) with essential oils. As Aromatherapy developed into a practice it adopted a holistic approach which encompasses the body, the mind and the spirit (energy).

Aromatherapy is a natural, non-invasive remedy system designed to affect the whole person, not just the symptom or disease. Aromatherapy can assist the body’s natural ability to balance, regulate, heal and maintain itself through the correct use of essential oils. The benefits of aromatherapy are particularly noticeable when therapeutic-grade essential oils are used, providing a powerful aromatherapy benefit.

How Aromatherapy Works

When any scent or fragrance is inhaled, the odor molecules travel up the nose where they are trapped by olfactory membranes that are protected by the lining inside the nose. Each odor molecule fits like a little puzzle piece into specific receptor cell sites that line a membrane, known as the olfactory epithelium. Each one of these hundreds of millions of nerve cells is replaced every 28 days. When stimulated by odor molecules, this lining of nerve cells triggers electrical impulses to the olfactory bulb in the brain. The olfactory bulb then transmits the impulses to the gustatory center (where the sensation of taste is perceived), the amygdala (where emotional memories are stored), and other parts of the limbic system of the brain.

Because the limbic system is directly connected to the parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance, therapeutic-grade essential oils can have profound physiological and psychological effects. The sense of smell is the only one of the five senses directly linked to the limbic lobe of the brain, our emotional control center. More.
