This one Young Living essential oil blend I certainly want in my Emergency Preparedness / First Aid Kit!” ~ Evelyn Vincent

Tension headaches, tight muscles, and overall soreness are commonalities of most adults. Deep Relief Essential Oil Roll-On offers a convenient, natural remedy to these indications. What makes Deep Relief a great, natural solution for muscle soreness and tension relief ? Several essential oils highly regarded for anti-inflammatory properties are found in this blend. • Peppermint and wintergreen essential oils soothe sore joints and ligaments
  • Deep Relief Essential Oil Roll-On helps counter stressed nerves
  • Copaiba essential oil reduces inflammation and muscle spasms
  • Deep Relief Essential Oil Roll-On eases tight, sore muscles
  • The essential oil roll-on offers portability convenience in a no-mess application

Key Essential Oils in the Deep Relief Essential Oil Blend

  • Peppermint essential oil (Menthe piperita) is one of the most highly regarded herbs for soothing stomach discomfort. It has also been found to relieve tension and discomfort of the neck and head.
  • Copaiba essential oil (Copaifera L. genus) is commonly used in anti-inflammatory recipes prescribed by Amazonian traditional medical practitioners. Featured in European and North American pharmacopeias, copaiba is recognized for reducing inflammation and muscle spasms.
  • Helichrysum essential oil (Helichrysum italicum) has been studied by European researchers for regenerating tissue and improving circulation. In short supply, helichrysum is one of Young Living’s most prized oils. Helichrysum can be used for aromatherapy or diffused to aid in tension relief.
  • Palo Santo essential oil (Bursera graveolens) is known as a spiritual oil. Palo Santo, harvested at Gary Young’s Ecuador farm, has traditionally been used to purify and cleanse the spirit from negative energies. Palo Santo adds purity to Deep Relief Essential Oil Roll-On.

How To Use Deep Relief

Apply generously on location every fifteen minutes for up to four applications. For head tension, apply over temples and on forehead (avoiding eye area).

Stress Away Essential Oil Roll-On

Stress Away Roll-On is a unique blend of vanilla, lime, and other essential oils makes relieving daily stress convenient and easy. This blend smells so wonderful I wear it as a perfume!

Stress Away also includes copaiba and lavender to reduce mental rigidity and restore equilibrium. It also features powerful plant constituents, such as the cedrol found in cedarwood and the eugenol that occurs naturally in vanilla. Cedrol can help induce relaxation, while eugenol works to reduce nervous tension. All of these ingredients are expertly blended with the exotic scent of ocotea, an exclusive Ecuador single.

Adding to the uplifting aroma of Stress Away is a subtle hint of lime, from coumarin-free lime essential oil. Regular lime, like most citrus essential oils, contains coumarins that are potentially photo-sensitizing and damaging to the skin, this lime essential oil minimizes any skin sensitivity, particularly when used while in the sun.

Stress Away Benefits

  • Reduce stress any time, anywhere with the convenience and portability of an essential oil roll-on.
  • Use Stress Away in anticipation of events or situations that may cause mental tension.
  • Lessening normal everyday stress can lead to improved sleep and elevated state of mind.

Key Therapeutic-grade Essential Oils in Stress Away

  • Vanilla – the warm, sweet aroma of vanilla calms and reduces tension.
  • Lime – the delicious scent of lime is robust and refreshing.
  • Ocotea – ocotea is an exotic scent somewhat similar to cinnamon.
  • Cedarwood - one of the highest known levels of sesquiterpenes, cedarwood works with the brain to improve relaxation.
  • Copaiba – supports the Stress Away blend with the powerful constituent beta caryophyllene.
  • Lavender – a floral scent that helps calms any tense mood.

How To Use Stress Away Roll-On

Shake well and apply generously to wrists, neck, arms, or anywhere you love experiencing essential oils.

Notable Facts About the essential Oils in Stress Away

  • Ocotea essential oil is derived from the tall ocotea tree and has a long history of traditional usage in the Amazon.
  • Copaiba is the only essential oil extracted through tapping, similar to how maple and rubber are gathered.
  • The vanilla in Stress Away does not contain water, unlike most vanilla oil sold on the market today.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Bed bugs are escalating because of global travel; the increase of homeless and underground communities; the popularity of “Flea” markets and 2nd-hand store merchandise. The escalation of bed bugs is alarming and people should be aware of the problem, how difficult it is to be rid of them, yet not be too discouraged, because there are natural, safe, chemical free ways to have those bed bugs be gone.

If you’re traveling or you’ve just recently purchased some used furniture, it’s a good idea to do an inspection for any mature bed bugs.  Bed bugs tend to be found in dwellings that are frequently used, like motels, hotels, apartments, dorms, care facilities, and most especially used furniture.

If you think you’re being bitten, it’s best to do a search of your home for these pests.  Bedding, clothes hampers, throw rugs, pillows and furniture are probably the first places you’ll want to search for bed bugs.

Vacuuming the mattress, using the “Bed Bug Spray” mentioned below, and applying a seal-able cover over the mattress should be sufficient.  Meanwhile, all clothes, linens, and bedding should be washed in HOT water, and the surrounding area vacuumed thoroughly.

Make sure that you dry the sheets and clothes in the dryer and not on a clothes line, as it is the long time in the dryer, not the washing machine, that will really ensure the bed bugs are dead.

Essential oil lovers prefer the Eco-friendly approach, and research shows that tree oils work best against parasites and menacing insects. Gary Young touts the praises of Palo Santo oil as the first choice for insect repellent. Palo Santo comes from an Ecuadorian tree which develops a resin to protect against infestation and it is from that resin that Young Living distills the Palo Santo oil.

Eucalyptus has been used historically for bed bugs, and Eucalyptus Blue is the first anti-viral Eucalyptus Oil . Native American Indians relied on pine needles and Cedarwood chips in their mattresses to ward off ticks and fleas.

Young Living essential oils are the essential oils that are being recommended for the following suggestions, as these essential oils are superior quality therapeutic-grade essential oils.

Spray on your Bed Between Linen Changes: Thieves Spray

Palo Santo Oil: Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) comes from the same botanical family (Burseraceae) as frankincense, although it is found in South America rather than the Middle East. Like frankincense, Palo Santo is known as a spiritual oil, traditionally used by the Incas to purify and cleanse the spirit from negative energies. Even its Spanish name reflects how highly this oil is regarded: Palo Santo means “holy wood” or “sacred wood.” The resin forms only after the tree is down for 5 years, and this resin from which the oil is extracted, protects the tree from various parasites.*

Eucalyptus Blue Oil: Eucalyptus Blue has a fresh, invigorating aroma that supports normal breathing and soothes tense muscles. This essential oil is grown and harvested in Ecuador. This is the first form of Eucalyptus that is also anti-viral. This essential oil contains high levels of the powerful constituents eucalyptol and alpha-pinene, and follows in the same tradition as a repellent to insects.*

Cedarwood Oil: Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica) has a warm, balsamic, woody aroma. It is relaxing and soothing when used for massage, and has long been used as a beneficial ingredient in cosmetic preparations for oily skin.*

Purification® Oil Blend: Purification® is a powerful blend of Therapeutic Grade A Melaleuca (Tea Tree oil); Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Lavandin and Myrtle essential oils. Purification® can be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes. When diffused, it helps to purify and cleanse the air from environmental impurities including cigarette smoke and other disagreeable odors.

Thieves Household Cleaner: Experience the wonder of Thieves® Household Cleaner, as tough stains and problem areas in your home become simple and easy to clean without using harsh or abrasive chemicals. Thieves Essential Oil is legendary as was proven at Weber State University to exhibit a kill rate of 99.96% against all airborne bacteria including MRSA, Staph, Strep, e-Coli and Toxic Black Mold. While bacteria can be dangerous, some industrial cleaners on the market pose an even larger threat to your health. Thieves Household Cleaner is a safe all-purpose “green” concentrate that can be used in every room in your home, without the harsh chemicals. Dilution ratios are listed on the label for your convenience.

ecuador-farm-palo-santo-treeOn the 10th day of Christmas Young Living scent to me, 10 Palo Santo, 9 ImmuPower, 8 Sacred Mountain, 7 Christmas Spirit, 6 Myrrh and Myrtle,  5 Balsam Fir, 4 Frankincense, 3 Wise Men, 2 NingXia Reds and a bottle of Lavender oil.

(Palo Santo tree on Young Living Farm in Guayaquil, Ecuador.) (Read more on Young Living farms)

During the Christmas season and really all year long, throughout the world there are  too many negative things going on and people tend to feed off the news that is full of negativity and negative energy.

Fortunately not all news is negative and actually during this time of the year there is more positive news because people are reminded of those that have less and our generosity comes out to help those in need.

However we do have to contend with bad news and the negative affects it may cause in our lives, in our heart, soul and minds.  What can we do to turn the negative thoughts and feelings around to positive?  There are many ways, but I would like to focus right now on Young Living therapeutic grade essential oil Palo Santo.

Palo santo (Bursera graveolens) comes from the same botanical family (Burseraceae) as frankincense, although it is found in the rich jungles of South America rather than the Middle East. Like frankincense, palo santo is known as a spiritual oil, traditionally used by the Incas to purify and cleanse the spirit from negative energies. Even its Spanish name reflects how highly this oil is regarded: Palo Santo means “holy wood” or “sacred wood.”  Very fitting essential oil to learn about during the Christmas season.

palo-santoHow to use: For topical use, dilute 50-50 ratio and apply 1-2 drops on affected area. For aromatic use, inhale directly as needed or diffuse/humidify for 10-15 minutes daily. Keep in a cool, dark place.

To help with the negative feelings, apply 2-3 drops of Palo Santo and 2-3 drops of V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex to the soles of the feet, over the crown chakra, and heart chakra. (Read more on Chakras). After applying, cup hands over the nose (without touching skin or eyes) and inhale deeply 2-3 times. Sit peacefully and think about what brings you joy.  This has helped me when I have had a hard day.*

Diffusing Palo Santo

Palo Santo can be diffused and may help to cleanse the the air of negative energies. Put 10-20 drops of Palo Santo in your Young Living diffuser, diffuse for 30-60 minutes twice a day (morning and evening).

If you are feeling like you need help removing negative energies that have creeped into your life, Palo Santo may be just what you need to help get to a more positive place in your life. May you find peace and keep it with you.

pets-animals-cat-dogDog and cat lovers want to do the best for their pets. Some of us spoil our pets more then others, like ordering natural foods and meats, that come delivered right to their home.  I’ve even watched programs where ones pet eats better then they do.  That’s a bit over the top as far as my way of thinking goes, but whatever works for each of us, to help us feel we are doing the best for our pets, well that’s what’s important.

We also want to try to take care of our pet’s health problems.  Many of us would prefer not using drugs on our pets and instead we are in search of pure and natural products that are healthier for them. From shampoos and flea and parasite medicines, to pain relief and even anxiety relief.  We just want our pets to be comfortable and happy, just like they make us feel.

Not only is it good to feed our pets well, but it is also important to give them pure water, just like what we drink.  Many times if they are drinking the water that comes from the faucet, which in many homes has chlorine in the water, this can lead to skin problems, which causes itching and the scratching can lead to more discomfort for them.  So remember when filling their water bowl, to use purified or filtered water.

When applying essential oils to pets it is important to use quality therapeutic-grade essential oils and  it is always best to use less then more.  Always mix what ever oil you are using, with at least 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of a pure olive oil or V6 Mixing Oil and apply to the pads of their feet.  Of course be sure to stay away from their eyes.

If you have a pet that is “jittery”, either from noises, like thunder, or when they are around people, or if they are afraid to have a bath, there are a few oils that may be good for calming them and ourselves too.  Lavender and the blend of RutaVala are excellent.  RuatVala is a blend of Ruta graveolens (rue) oil, valeriana officinalis (valerian) root oil, and lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil.   Diffusing Valerian may be a big help too.

What I do is is put a drop or two of the essential oil in the palm of my hand and rub my hands together.  Kneeling down by the animal, I then let them get comfortable and smell my hands and let them get used to the scent.  I then would give them a nice petting.  Next I would put a few more drops in the palm of my hand and rub the oil onto the pads of their feet and also massage the tips of their ears. I find this always does the trick on calming my animals.*

Allergies can be caused from fleas, food, and reaction to the environment like from walking on lawns that have been fertilized. Or even from household cleaners, such as floor and carpet cleaners.  A very gentle essential oil to use for allergies would be lavender.*  Once again you would want to mix 1-2 drops with 1/8-1/4 teaspoon of pure olive oil or V6 Mixing Oil and rub onto the pads of their feet.  You can also put 1-2 drops on the skin and seal it with Animal Scents Ointment.  V6 Mixing Oil Ingredients: Fractionated Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Sesamum Indicum‡ (Sesame) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, and Olea Europaea‡ (Olive) Fruit Oil. animal_scents-pets-dog-cat

Animal Scents Shampoo

Use Animal Scents Shampoo every time you give your pet a bath.  It is free of any bad ingredients. The ingredients are:  Demineralized water, saponified oils of coconut and olive, Animal Scents† Shampoo Essential Oil Complex [citronella (Cymbopogon nardus)†, lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida)†, lemon (Citrus limon)†, geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)† and spikenard (Nardostachys jatamansi)†] vegetable gum, aloe vera and rosemary extract.

For a flea bath add 1-2 drops of each of these oils to the Animal Scents Shampoo:

Citronella, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Melrose and Pine

If your pet has fleas wouldn’t you rather have a product for your pets that is free of toxins and chemicals?  That’s where Young Livings quality therapeutic-grade essential oils come in.  For my cat I use either Palo Santo or the blend of Purification.  Ingredients of Purification: Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and myrtle (Myrtus communis). I put 1 drop in the palm of my hand and rub my hands together, then I rub the back of his neck and also the bottoms of his feet.

I also have a glass spray bottle with 8 ounces of purified water with1-2 drops of each these oils:

Eucalyptus, Orange, Citronella, Cedarwood

Shake well and spray all over their body.  Keeping away from the eyes is important.  This is also a nice bug repellent for us.*

For Hot Spots (exposed bare flesh)

Mix about 2 tablespoons of V6 Mixing Oil with  8 drops of Helichrysum in a spray bottle.  Spaying the area twice per day, the biting/chewing and pain may cease very quickly.*

Sometimes our pets get upset stomachs that can cause diarrhea.  What I have done with my dogs is whenever they get diarrhea from licking, sniffing or however, I put 1-3 drops of Thieves with 1/8-1/4 teaspoons of olive oil or V6 Mixing Oil and apply it to their front paws.  Within a day or so they are back to normal.*  I also use Thieves on myself when I feel myself coming down with a cold.  I apply the Thieves and olive oil to my chest and/or neck and by the next day I feel better.*

I wash their bedding with Thieves Household Cleaner and during the rinse cycle I will add 5-10 drops of any of these oils; peppermint, lemon, purification or eucalyptus.  Thieves Household Cleaner is a product that can replace all your household cleaners in your home and it is a green product.

Wouldn’t you like to show your pets how much you love them?  Then why not get started with these natural ways to help them to be healthier and more comfortable, so that they can continue to bring you the joy and laughter that is natural to them.

Using essential oils with pets is excerpted from the Essential Oils Desk Reference

Young Living Essential Oils have been used very successfully on many different kinds of animals from kittens to 2,000- pound draft horses. Animals generally respond to essential oils in much the same way as humans. [It is NOT recommended to use other brands of essential oils on animals are they can be adulterated and contain harmful chemicals - if they contain any real essential oil at all].

How Much Young Living Essential Oil Should I Use?

Most animals are even more sensitive to the effects of therapeutic-grade essential oils than humans. They often seem to have a natural affinity to the healing influence of the oils. Adjust dosage proportionately, based on body weight. If the protocol for a human being ( at about 160 lbs.) calls for 3-5 drops, then a horse (at 1600 lbs. or more) could use as much as 10 times that amount, while a dog (at 16 lbs.) would need as little as one tenth that amount. Generally speaking, if you have never put oils on an animal before, you should start carefully, applying them only to the feet, paws, or hooves (on the frog and cornet bands) at first.

In the case of cats and small dogs, essential oils should ALWAYS be diluted before applying, because they are actually MORE sensitive to the biochemicals in the oils than humans.

Be careful to avoid high phenol oils, such as oregano and thyme, on cats because they can be extremely sensitive to these stronger oils. They should only be used in high rates of dilution (90% carrier oil) and the diluted oil should only be applied to the paws.

General Guidelines When Using Essential Oils with Animals:

  • For small animals: (cats and small dogs) Apply 3-5 drops DILUTED (80 essential oil – 90% carrier oil) oil mixture per application.
  • For larger animals: (large dogs) Apply 3-5 drops NEAT (dilute if using oils high in phenol) per application.
  • For large animals: (cattle and horses) Apply 20-30 drops NEAT (dilute if using oils high in phenol) per application.

Essential Oils and Cats

There is much fear among some people that essential oils should never be used around cats. It is true that cats process essential oils very differently than humans, dogs, and horses. I personally do not have a cat and cannot share with you any of my own experiences other than this… when I have come in contact with cats while wearing my Young Living oils (as a perfume or applied for healing) cats are are attracted to me so strongly that I can’t keep them away.

I have also heard stories, I don’t know how accurate and true they are, that some have had bad experiences with oils and cats. This has most certainly occurred for  one of two reasons, 1) because they are using inferior quality oils, or 2) they’ve used way too much essential oil.

I do know that it is fine to use Young Living oils in the same house with cats because many thousands of Young Living oil users have cats and they use their oils daily without any problems. I also know that there are many vets and animal workers who use Young Living oils with cats very effectively for healing and wellness purposes.

I believe that those who say never to use essential oils even in the same house with cats are either repeating something they heard or read that’s not true, or those horror stories are from those who used an inferior essential oil or too much (too much of even a good thing can be unhealthy, read Why Essential Oils Kill Insects and Not Humans).

Essential Oils and Cat Testimonials

“I have two kittens that a friend gave us. When we got them they were very sickly and terribly thin. I use oils on them daily. I put Helichrysum, Lavender and Roman Chamomile on their ears twice a day. I’ve also used Peppermint, RC, Idaho Balsam Fir and maybe a few others. These kittens are growing like weeds, play hard and sleep hard. Except for still having extra mucus, they are the picture of health. The YL oils didn’t kill them, but they would be dead if not for the oils.” ~ Edith C.

“I volunteer at an animal shelter and they used Melrose in oil base for ringworm there. Some cleared up in days, some in weeks. One tougher case over a month. That is compared to over 1 year with what they were doing before, which was why I suggested the oils. I couldn’t stand to see them isolated from kitten hood to adult. Of course, I would only use my YL oils. One shelter worker seemed to think they even liked the smell and affected their mood.” ~ Toni D.

“If the YLEO (Young Living Essential Oils) kills cats then my cats have lost eight or nine lives each! They love the oils and a couple of them try to lick the oils off of my skin if don’t watch them. I have 5 cats. I even had one cat with liver problems (her brother died from liver disease and she had all of the same symptoms – that was before YL) that Immupower cured. That is one of the oils that isn’t supposed to be used for cats. I do dilute the oils when I use them on the cats – 3-4 drops per teaspoon of olive oil. I don’t know why I do since they lick the oils off fo me and those aren’t diluted. I have also diffused the oils full strength. Of course cats aren’t suppose to like citric oils and smells but I have 2 cats that will pick up lemon rind and chew on them – what can I say.” ~ Carol B.

Essential Oils and Dogs

My dog, has been around Young Living essential oils since the age of 3 1/2, when we got him, he’s now 9 1/2 years old. He absolutely LOVES the oils, we let him pick which one he wants applied. Some of his favorites are: Palo Santo (for pain and killing ticks), Deep Relief RollOn (for pain), Geranium (for bites and irritated skin), Helichrysum (for skin issues), Frankincense (for skin conditions and removing a large skin tag). The one essential oil he doesn’t like is Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and if one oil is not particularly good for dogs Tea Tree is it. We’ve taught him how to ask us when he wants some oils and how to indicate if he wants a particular oil over another.

Please use the information above to help you use your Young Living oils safely and effectively with your pets and remember… ALWAYS use common sense.
