A popular way to use therapeutic essential oils to stay well during plane and vacation travel is to apply a couple drops of Thieves essential oils to the soles of your feet before leaving home – and – put several drops of Thieves essential oil or the blend R.C. on a cotton ball, place the cotton ball in a small baggie and every hour open the baggie and take several deep inhalations. The benefits of this are likely to help you not catch a cold or virus while traveling.

For air sickness, many rub a drop of either Peppermint or Ginger behind their ears. You will want to use a little carrier oil with either o these essential oils as they may be slightly irritating to delicate skin.

Prevent Motion Sickness Recipe

2 drops Peppermint
2 drops Ginger
5 drops V-6 Massage Oil (a carrier oil)

Rub 6-10 drops of the above mixture on chest and stomach 1 hour before traveling.

Stomach Upsets, Stomach Cramping, Dysentery

Nothing can ruin a vacation than having to be near a toilet all of the time. There are a few therapeutic essential oil choices for bad bugs in the tummy. The most important thing to start doing a couple of weeks or month before leaving home is to get plenty of good bacteria in your gut – Life 5 is an excellent probiotic, 1-2 capsules daily are usually enough to get you in good shape. Young Living’s Life 5 is superior to all other acidolphilis supplements I’ve seen – I highly recommend it. Our horse had a huge abscess in his foot, which blew out a chunk of hoof; leaving a section missing, a huge crack, and deep infected internal pocket. He was completely lame, unable to go clockwise at all in any gait. I treated this by first flushing it with peroxide and it literally smoked! His ankle and hoof were hot to the touch and the ankle was swollen and hot.

I went back the next day with my essential oils. I scrubbed the frog with Thieves Hand Soap, rinsed, irrigated with peroxide which still smoked, then injected my Clove, Oregano and Thieves mixture into the crack then wrapped it with gauze to hold in any oil that leaked out.

When I went back the next day, the ankle was perfect; he was no longer favoring his injured foot. It was no longer hot, or even remotely warm. Again I injected peroxide… no smoke. I injected my essential oil combo and let it be.

What an awesome, no antibiotic, fast, healthy, alternative treatment to an infection! My lame horse of 36 hours previous was now cantering away, and happy to do it!

The farrier was out 3 days later… his frog was completely healed with no signs of any internal abscess, not foot tender at all. The barn owner calls it “the voodoo that I do”! Read the rest of this entry »

Treatment of a deep puncture wound with laceration and infection was not something I had experienced as yet with our horse, which he soon remedied. Our horse injured himself with a deep puncture wound and laceration on a Sunday, most likely from a nail in his paddock fencing.

When I talked to the barn owner on Monday, he told me it was deep enough that I should consider calling in a vet for an open debridement and stitches. I went Tuesday morning. When I saw him, the swelling around the wound on his neck was slightly larger then the size of a tennis ball, deep, clearly sensitive to the touch, and it was clear he was unhappy at best. I flushed the wound copiously with peroxide. I’m a big believer in Essential Oils. I made a blend of Pure Therapeutic grade Essential oils, mixed them with 15 drops of water, and slowly irrigated them into the wound with a needle-less syringe, paying particular attention to the puncture “hole” in the wound. The wound at that time was clearly infected. I could see pus deep within the wound. I believed wholeheartedly that the Young Living Essential Oils would work, however, everyone was telling me he needed antibiotics and open debridement with stitches.

I went and repeated this essential oil irrigation on Wednesday. The wound was only slightly less swollen. The horse was in pain. I did call the vet, who came on Thursday. Read the rest of this entry »

Systemic Lupus, arthritis, fatigue, pain constant chronic have been a daily part of my life for the last 20 years. I have wonderful doctors who have managed my disease as well as everything that comes with it, I am so grateful that I am blessed to have these wonderful doctors treating me. The one thing that no one has successfully managed is my pain. Although I used pain patches with oral pain killers, sadly the most they ever did was “take the edge off”. I was introduced to Young Living Essential Oils, They have had a positive profound impact in my life. I rarely use pain patches at all, have gone from eight plus heavy painkillers a day to 1 or 2, some days none!

I use a blend of Young Living Essential Oil anti-inflammatory oils (clove, oregano, Nutmeg, lemon, rosemary, basil, chamomile, lavander, peppermint with a few others) on my affected muscles, joints as well as my spine. Typically within 3-5 minutes at most I start to feel relief, shortly there after I am pain free. In 60 days my Sedimentation Rate has dropped 30 points and I no longer take ANY oral anti-inflammatory medicine!

Additionally, I was previously on a chemotherapy drug called Methotrexate to manage my disease. I am now off of Methotrexate for the last 30 days, I do not plan on restarting it. And, let’s be honest, when you’re in pain, chronically, it affects your mood and appearance to others. I can honestly say I am now in a better, if not good, jovial, happy uplifted mood almost every day. The Raindrop Technique, developed by Gary Young and a Lakota medicine man almost two decades ago, uses a sequence of nine highly immune enhancing essential oils. The essential oils are dropped like rain from a height of about 6 inches onto the spine and then lightly massaged in using various hand to body techniques. This stimulates energy impulses and disperses the oils along the nervous system throughout the entire body.

We all carry immune system depleting viruses and bacteria. Essential oils applied to the spinal column are absorbed through the nerves that feed the entire body. Wonderfully soothing, nurturing and relaxing, the Raindrop Technique can work its benefits in the body for days, weeks or months.
