"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

First, I need to point out that when I speak about essential oils I am only referring to the Young Living brand. You cannot expect to get the same results or superior quality if the essential oil is not Young Living. That includes essential oils sold in health food stores, they simply are not quality essential oils. Whether the essential oil is used in massage, diffusing, cooking, skin care, or First Aid – superior quality should be the first thing you look for.

Why Quality is Very Important

Perfume grade and lesser quality oils may possibly be harmful due to unknown additives, chemicals, extenders, and poor plant or distillation conditions. Be certain that you only use superior quality essential oils such as Young Living Therapeutic-grade Essential Oils!

US labeling for essential oils is governed by the Perfume Act, allowing labels to say “100% Pure Essential Oil” and by law contain only 5% of any grade oils. Do not be fooled my mislabeling!

A huge percentage of the approximate 4,000 chemicals approved by the FDA to “fragrance” products are known carcinogens and many may be labeled an “essential oil.” Fortunately, Young Living does NOT operate by those standards!

Essential oils penetrate the stratum corneum (the upper layer of the skin) to reach the subdermal tissues and blood vessels beneath (Huang et al., 1999; Ogiso et al., 1995.) This is why you do not want to use lesser quality oils for any purpose.

Sacred Frankincense Essential OilYoung Living has recently established 3 Frankincense oil distilleries in Oman, where they are distilling our newest essential oil, Sacred Frankincense (Boswellia sacra). The species of Frankincense Young Living has carried for years is Boswellia carteri, which comes from Somalia.

Omani frankincense is regarded the world over as the rarest, most sought-after aromatic in existence. After careful negotiations with Omani officials, Gary Young was granted permission to build a Young Living distillery in-country, and take the resulting essential oil out of Oman. Until this partnership, no Omani frankincense had ever left the country, unless directly purchased by Saudi royals.

Sacred Frankincense is highly regarded as the frankincense of the ancients and the traditional spiritual oil of biblical times. Young Living’s Sacred Frankincense marks the first time any Westerners have been able to experience these unique, spiritual properties. Read the rest of this entry »

There are three Young Living supplements that have been quite useful in addressing pain – BLM, Sulfurzyme and Coral Sea. When taken together, these supplements work synergistically to nourish and build the health of our muscoskeletal systems. BLM supplement

BLM

Formulated from the most potent, natural ingredients known, BLM protects mobility and the health of your Bones Ligaments and Muscles.

Key ingredients include: Collagen Type II, MSM, glucosamine sulfate, manganese citrate and the essential oils of Clove, Idaho Balsam Fir and Wintergreen.

Idaho Balsam Fir is one of the richest sources of limonene, a powerful antioxidant that may help ease stress and tension in joints and in the muscoskeletal system. More on BLM.

Sulfurzyme Sulfurzyme supplement

Sulfurzyme is a terrific supplement and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular – MSM, a key ingredient in Sulfurzyme, which has been proven to be extremely effective in relieving pain, especially tissue and joint pain. MSM is also a source of organic sulfur (not to be confused with sulfa), shown to reduce the inflammation of arthritis, relieve muscle spasms, improve blood flow and deliver biologically active sulfur to the joints.

Because MSM is not absorbed well unless it is taken with high levels of Vitamin C, amino acids and protein, Sulfurzyme includes Chinese wolfberries which contain all three!

How MSM works to control pain: When fluid pressure inside the cell is higher than the outside pressure, pain is experienced. The MSM found in Sulfurzyme equalizes fluid pressure by affecting the protein envelope of the cell so that water transfers freely in and out. More on Sulfurzyme.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Peppermint is one of the most effective essential oils for blocking pain. In one study that compared the effectiveness of Peppermint oil to acetaminophen for headache pain, Peppermint “efficiently alleviated tension-type headaches and… was a well tolerated and cost effective alternative to conventional therapies.” (Gobel et al., 1996) Back pain.

Peppermint inhibits smooth muscle contractions by blocking calcium influx into the muscle cells, thus blocking the transmission of pain signals. (Forster et al., 1980; Giachetti et al.,1988)

Two essential oil blends from Young Living are well known by users for their pain-relieving properties. The first is PanAway a blend of Wintergreen, Clove, Helichrysum and Peppermint. The eugenol in Clove has a long history of use for pain relief in dentistry and for rheumatism, arthritis and headaches.

The second blend is Relieve It is a blend of Spruce, Black Pepper, Hyssop and Peppermint. Conifer oils such as Spruce have traditionally been used for topical relief of rheumatism and arthritis. Black Pepper essential oil can help relieve muscle aches, pain and stiffness by dilating blood vessels and bringing additional circulation to the area.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Many can identify with stress and tension locating itself somewhere in the body, mine has always gone straight to my neck and shoulders. Causing pain, discomfort, stiff neck, difficultly turning my neck, and when I wake up feeling stiff and uncomfortable it produces an emotional feeling of, “ugh, here we go again. I’d just love to have this nonsense go away for good.”

Two weeks ago, I went back to the drawing board, my essential oils case and Essential Oils Desk Reference (EODR). The blend called Release™ has always been quite good for me, though it never addressed the problem completely, two weeks ago I decided that it was time to find an essential oil that more adequately nipped this in the bud.

After about an hour, I made my decision. I chose the blend Humility™ and two singles, Sandalwood and Jasmine. I’ve had these three oils massaged on my neck, shoulders and back three times in the past two weeks and I have to tell you the results have been amazing! But before I tell you my results I want to share how I came to this conclusion so that it may help you make choices that produce great results to.

How I went about choosing Humility™, Sandalwood and Jasmine Read the rest of this entry »
