Essential oils and woman inhaling them from cupped palmsCreating your own signature emotional wellness aromatherapy kits is a fun way to empower yourself and feel better. The selection of essential oils you need to create an ‘emotional’ kit are as varied as there are emotions. Therefore I have compiled an assortment of essential oils for specific emotional needs that you can easily put together in one order based on your needs. Most of these will be reasonable enough that you could even use them as gifts to those who are motivated to do something to help themselves.

These are some of my most favorite and practical tips using essential oils and supplements to really make a difference. Please note that the essential oils I use and recommend are the best quality available.

The Basics: this applies to all of the created kits

5 Ways to Use the Essential Oils

  1. Inhale – directly from the bottle
  2. Diffuse – in your YL diffuser, 15 minutes 3-4 times daily
  3. Perfume – place a drop on pulse points
  4. Massage – use 3-5 drops of essential oil mixed with 2 TBSP V-6
  5. Bath – 1 cup Sea or Epsom Salt, add 3-5 drops essential oil, stir well, add to running bath water, soak for 20 minutes

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

I want to share my testimonial with those who are interested in the many ways therapeutic-grade essential oils can be used for wellness. Recently I moved and found myself lifting and carrying far more heavy items than I should have been. Low and behold, everything moved and unpacked, I picked up a heavy cooler… a few hours later I was in agony. My lower back, left side, and butt cheek muscle were in very bad pain. Rather than consult my Essential Oils Desk Reference or use the oils I normally would I went by my gut feeling and tried a different combination and had terrific results. Back pain.

The combination of Young Living Essential Oils I used:

6-8 drops Ginger essential oil
5-6 drops Jasmine essential oil
5-6 drops Roman Chamomile essential oil
1 tbsp. V-6 massage oil

Within 20 minutes the pain subsided nicely, enough so I could get up and do things again, I did avoid moving anything heavy. The next day the same essential oils were applied again and more pain disappeared. The third day, even though I really didn’t have much pain I still massaged the combination in again. By day 4 I was absolutely pain-free and back to doing my normal things again.

About one week later though I carried two very heavy large bags of trash out and the same spot on my lower back, left side right down to my butt cheek, began hurting badly again. Applying the same combination of oils again brought relief within 20 minutes. Following up the next two days again did the trick.

What are Essential Oils? Strictly speaking essential oils are the aromatic volatile lipid-soluble portion of the fluids of a plant containing odiferous compounds. They can come from any part of a plant including, but not limited to, the stems, branches, fruits, flowers, seeds roots, bark, needles and leaves.

Essential oils can contain hundreds of different compounds and to date no essential oil has had all of its compounds identified. They can contain an infinite combination of alcoholc, esters, aldehydes, ketones, acids, mono-, sesqui-, di- and tetra- terpenes.

For example orange oil (Citrus sinensis) contains:

  • 34 alcohols
  • 30 esters
  • 20 aldehydes
  • 14 ketones 10 carboxylic acids
  • 36 varieties of terpenes

This is not all of components as no essential oil has had all of the constituents identified.
