Building a Successful Young Living Business

Any successful business requires work, knowledge, a good company to be involved with that is ethical, and has excellent quality products, good customer service, and community and charitable outreach. These are all qualities of Young Living Essential Oils, and this is the business I am focusing on in this article.

Knowledge is growth, and learning about essential oils is very rewarding, because with this knowledge you are able to educate others about essential oils and how to use them. This takes as much time as you are able to, and willing to devote. I help my team towards achieving more the goal.

What Makes You Happy? Abundance, Wellness and Purpose

happy-people-mood Abundance, wellness and purpose, is this not what most of us want and dream of in our lives? We may desire abundance, total wellness and to understand our purpose for living, and what we strive for while living our lives on earth.

Abundance comes in many ways and forms. For each of us it is of course different, as it should be, after all we are all individuals with individual feelings.

I lead a pretty simplistic life, and abundance for me is the abundant love I have for family and friends. A comfortable warm home to come home to after a days work. Food in the pantry and refrigerator. A cozy bed to sleep in at night. Having a close to debt free life, and in knowing my residual income continues to grow nicely with my Young Living business. Knowing and feeling deep in my soul that I will always have these blessings is very abundant to me.

Wellness for me is eating healthy, exercising, drinking at least 8 glasses of pure water, (which I always add essential oils to for added wellness benefits). The realization that I take zero medications. And the knowledge that I am as healthy as I am, because of aromatherapy, our personal care products, nutritional products, natural green household products and our essential oils, that I reach for should any unforeseen ailment or situation crop up into my daily life.

Purpose can be a difficult picture to envision. My thoughts are that purpose comes from a dream. What is it you dream of? What are your dreams made of. No matter how huge or how small, they are a dream, your dream, and they can come true, but they require more then just thinking of and dreaming. They require doing something to get those dreams to become a fulfilled dream. Once one knows what the dream is, one way to begin to set it into motion is to set goals.

Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and beyond, goals. Take some time to reflect and really think about your life, what you want out of life and for your life, and then what you need to do to begin, or continue on with your purpose.

My dream and purpose is to help people in a grand scale. First I must reach for more financial abundance and this IS coming to me with my Young Living business. Not only is my “pocket book” growing but I am able to show people how they are able to feel better naturally and to show them how by making purchase changes, from our Young Living store, they too also begin to see their “pocket book” grow. I show you how to buy differently, you intern begin to earn extra money and feel better because of these changes. 2010 Laughter, Love, Good Health and Prosperity

2010 Laughter, Love, Good Health and Prosperity, all of this is what I would like to see and hear of throughout the world. In 2009 we all may of had hard times and hopefully lots of good times too. That is the past now and what we have to look forward to is what is to come.

Laughter

Laughter may not come often enough in our lives. Think about the different situations or things that bring a chuckle forth. I love to hear the tinker bell sound of a child’s laughter or to watch the playful antics of kittens and puppies. Watching a good comedy or seeing a good comedian is fun too. All of these options may not be readily available. Laughter is very therapeutic, so try to figure out what it is that makes you laugh.
I once took a class on laughter. It was quite interesting and easy to do. What you do is start with a “hahaha” deep in your belly and just keep on doing it. It’s fun to do with others. It’s interesting to find how the “fake” laugh can actually turn in to a full belly laugh.
We all have unique laughter and hearing someone else laughing is another way that gets me to laughing. My laugh when I really get going can sound quite hysterical and whoever is in close proximity is bound to become startled, yet also start to laugh too. One time I was out to dinner with family and friends and I started to laugh, not really sure why, but it worked into my hysterical laugh. My poor son, I sure can embrace him, and love too. The entire restaurant was quiet and a bit shocked by what was going on at our table. I find it comical to think about how some things we may do in life can leave lasting impressions on others.
So take a few moments, start with a smile and happy thoughts and some “hahaha” and have a good laugh, and then see how good you feel.

Love

There are many who do not have the luxury of love and even those that do have love in their lives may not realize the significance of what they have until it slips away from them.
Love to me is caring, tenderness, honesty, respectful, hugs, listening, understanding, patients, thoughtful advise, being helpful but not disabling, being their for someone no matter when, where or how.
Sometimes relationships don’t work out. My marriage ended after 25 years, but I am grateful for the love we had and for the many good things and people, that came of our relationship. We can always find good in any situation. Or we can just focus on the bad. Both are a choice, dwell on the good or dwell on the bad. My choice is the good. Dwelling on the bad is just that, bad, it does me no good, just makes me sad.
Rose oil is an oil of love and has a beautiful, strong floral and sweet fragrance that is intoxicating and highly romantic. It helps bring balance and harmony with stimulating and uplifting properties that create a sense of well-being and self-confidence.*

Good Health

Good health also comes in different forms, feelings and levels. Many are fortunate to be blessed with good health and naturally eat right, exercise, get proper rest and have low stress in their lives. I think that they are a small minority and many of us need to work hard to accomplish this fantastic lifestyle, but it is attainable.

Measurements

Do this on a monthly basis. I know it is hard to not step on the scale weekly, but one weight loss program I went through taught this and it is a good practice to get into.

Keep track

Keep a DAILY food journal. VERY important. If you really want to see how healthy you are eating, keep track of not just caloric intake but also fat, fiber and salt. This all may be more than what you want to do, but for sure it is important to keep track of calorie intake.
Write down whatever type of exercise you do.

Have you ever wondered if the chemical products you use can contribute to health problems? If you have, and if you have looked into it very deeply, you know that they most certainly can. The Environmental Working Group did a study that they called Ten Americans in which they discovered up to 455 chemicals polluting people, and they went on to find that chemical pollution in people is in fact linked to diseases. Interestingly enough, so many of these chemicals are coming from the most obvious places. Household cleaning products, bath/body care products, food grown with the use of pesticides/herbicides, tap water, just to name a few sources. Even our bedding can be polluting us. According to Talia Rose at www.organicgrace.com, regular mattresses are soaked in a carcinogenic (cancer causing) chemical solution, and this chemical is found in blood samples taken from umbilical cords, and is even found in mothers milk.

Historically, it has been shown that during economically challenging times direct selling home businesses, Network Marketing, and MLM (legitimate ones of course) are popular and do well – probably due to like-minded people joining forces and creating community; something which is needed when times are not looking so hot.

Young Living Essential Oils is quickly approaching it’s 20 year anniversary, founded in 1992 by Gary Young.

My Story: what I was looking for and how I got to where I am today…

I became interested in essential oils about 22 years ago while on a personal quest to find natural cleaning solutions for around my home. I had become tired and then angry by the so-called expensive all-natural products sold commercially and was determined to find truly natural solutions.

While it was household cleaning, completely chemical-free, that set me on my original quest it wasn’t until 1998 that I would find what I had been looking for… the best essential oils in the world. I had read that there were essential oils that were so pure and natural that as long as they came from an edible plant or tree, they could be used internally and in cooking. I cannot tell you how many times I would be looking at the other brand of essential oils I was using and thought, “I wonder what it would be like to be able to taste an essential oil and use it in cooking and to be able to use them in all of the ways I have read about.” I didn’t dare taste those oils or use them in cooking, it clearly stated on the label, “Not for Internal Use.” I also never used them topically, I am a firm believer that if something is not high enough quality for internal use then I certainly do not want to be applying it to my skin. You can imagine how happy I was when I was introduced to Young Living! My only thought when I sniffed that first bottle of lavender was, “oh my gosh… these ARE the oils I have been looking for!” The smell alone indicated to me that my quest was over and now the new journey would begin.

I was a landscape designer back then, my focus was on garden rooms, backyard wildlife habitats, native plants, classical Feng Shui, labyrinths and creating outdoor sacred space for my clients. I was extremely busy with jobs and had no intention of having an essential oils business – I simply wanted to be a wholesale customer and continue on my merry way… until I moved to Seattle over 4 years ago. The cool, damp climate there was enough to make me reconsider starting a landscape business out there.

After a few weeks of thinking what kind of business venture I wanted to pursue I realized that I knew a lot about essential oils and creating completely natural solutions for daily life. Up until that point, whenever someone asked me what I used to clean my house with because it smelled so good, or what I was using that made my car smell so good, or what do I use that prevented my house from having mold issues, I would tell them Young Living Essential Oils and that if they wanted some they could call the company… yup, for about 7 years I was giving away customers intentionally, I was too busy doing other things.

For the past four years this has been my full time business and it will remain so for years to come. I enjoy empowering others, helping them to find and use truly natural solutions to everyday life and supporting the distributors on my team. Living in the Pacific Northwest can have you cooped up inside because of the rainy days. What I like to do on days like that is to have some fun making more easy gifts for family and friends.

Directions for creating Spritzers:

Fill 1 ounce glass spray bottle half way with alcohol.
Drop 10 drops of Young Living therapeutic-grade essential in bottle.
Finally, fill bottle with alcohol. Spray and smell. You may need to add more essential oil to get the best scent.
Apply pretty labels, with ingredients.
Apply labels saying; Spray in the air to fill the room with beautiful scent. Spray on clothing, linens, bedding, towels or furniture, for freshening and lovely scents.

When you spray the spritzer on your clothing, it is a wonderful aromatherapy perfume and people always comment on the wonderful scents. So try it out and see the response that you get from people.

These spritzers are excellent for freshening any stale air, or rooms that have stinky smells, like the bathroom can get to be at times. So having a bottle handy in the bath room is nice to be able to grab whenever one needs to squirt a more pleasant scent into the air.

Make Money and Make a Difference

In these difficult economic times many people are needing help and more and more people are reaching out and truly helping people who may be suffering from various situations in their lives. There are so many ways that can help to begin to turn people’s lives around. Having good food and good water in our bellies and a roof over or heads is something that many of us take for granted. Unfortunately for many, these comforts aren’t included in their lives right now. They keep searching for ways to make an income and yet it is becoming an increasingly daunting task. I would like to reach out and share with people how they can make an income, be healthier and show other people how they too can make this transformation.

There are many ways to reach out and help. Perhaps you have a full pantry or full medicine cabinet. Do you know anyone who does not? Yes we have our food drives, which are important to give to year round. What about taking a look around, or listening to what someone is saying. You may discover that person would really appreciate a bag or a box of food from your pantry and even items for their medicine cabinet. You don’t have to spend money to do this, just open up your hearts.

Showing our gratitude and being gracious are two very endearing qualities. I continue to show my gratitude to God for blessing us with His healing plants that He so graciously, put at our fingertips. I am grateful for Gary Young for bringing us essential oils in their purest form, so that we are able to reach for a bottle of essential oil, rather then a prescription drug, to help us with what is ailing us. The bottle of essential oil may be very supportive, the prescription drug may mask the problem and possibly cause even more problems.

I feel it is my duty to not only share with others, but to teach and train them to take the necessary steps to avoid the diseases and health problems most people now accept as commonplace. Simple lifestyle adjustments, diet change, use of essential oils, and essential oil enhanced personal care products and supplements, can make a world of difference. Taking control of our health is a form of independence. Establishing a home business with Young Living Essential Oils, can lead to and unleash and unforeseen passion you did not know you had. You can be an inspiration to others around you by taking this leap of faith.

The simple fact that by taking this leap of faith, your stress level could go down and you begin to feel better and better about life and yourself. Stress is the biggest culprit that can break people’s spirit and it can cause so many health problems.

I am very fortunate to be involved with one of the most dynamic and uplifting parts of our economy, which is health care and most specifically health education and prevention, and even more specifically, Network Marketing. You may think; “How is health care uplifting?” My thoughts are; “Yes it can be uplifting if we make the appropriate lifestyle changes to make the shift in our health care.”

Historically, when the economy goes down, network marketing goes up. That’s because people who are not usually interested in network marketing, suddenly find it compelling to be able to add $300.00 + to their monthly income. Sometimes that $300.00 is the difference between staying afloat and going down.

We are fortunate that Young Living is doing so well. Steve Bently, the CFO (he headed the United Way Foundation for many years), mentioned recently that in an economic downturn the people who have the most money (or at least the steadiest income) are among those involved with Network Marketing. In his report about the Company he also reminded us how important our Young Living Farms are. They make the difference between just being an oils broker and actually sourcing the oils ourselves.

Our farms started from one man, Gary Young. He started growing our first plants of Lavender on a quarter acre of land in Spokane, Washington. Since that time in 1989, he has grown the company to where we now have four farms totaling over 4,000 acres of farm land. Gary knows he must continue planting because just like animals becoming extinct, so are plants.

As a single income home, and with the economy crises going on we (like everyone) look for every area we can where we can make some cuts. However, there is one area we will not make cuts in, and that is the area of our health.
