"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

With perfumes and colognes containing so many chemicals these days it only makes sense to make your own. Plus it’s easy and fun to make your own aromatherapy perfume oils! Here’s how…

  1. Add 25 drops your favorite essential oil (see good choices below) to 1 oz. jojoba oil.
  2. Let sit in a tightly capped bottle for two weeks before to using.
  3. Pour mixture into pretty bottles and label.

Good essential oil choices for a perfume oil are:Essential Oil Blends for Christmas: Abundance, 3 Wise Men and Joy

Joy™ (#3372) is a luxuriously exotic blend with uplifting overtones that creates magnetic energy and brings joy to the heart. When worn as cologne or perfume, Joy exudes an alluring and irresistible fragrance that inspires romance and togetherness. When diffused, it can be refreshing and uplifting.

Sensation™ (#3420) is a wonderfully fragrant, powerfully romantic blend that is extremely uplifting and refreshing. It was formulated to enhance the enjoyment of special moments.

Dragon Time™ (#3327) is a blend of calming and soothing essential oils, including clary sage, which contains natural phytoestrogens – the perfect choice for women’s emotions during special times and needs. Its balancing properties make it a perfect choice for supporting normal, healthy emotions during the female monthly cycle. Dragon Time is recommended for young and mature women.

Abundance™ (#3300) is created to enhance the frequency of the harmonic magnetic energy field that surrounds us. This higher frequency creates what is called “the law of attraction,” which refers to the things we attract to ourselves. Abundance opens us to a wealth of possibilities.

Gentle Baby™ (#3345) is a soft, fragrant combination of essential oils designed specifically for mothers and babies. It helps calm emotions during pregnancy and is useful for quieting troubled little ones. It is also soothing to tender skin. Many of the essential oils in this blend are used in elite cosmetics to enhance a youthful appearance.

Sacred Mountain™ (#3414) promotes feelings of strength, empowerment, grounding, and protection that are a result of being close to nature. This blend of conifer essential oils, including spruce, fir, and cedarwood, evokes the feelings of sanctity found in the mountains.

Sandalwood (Santalum album) (#3634) has a rich, sweet, warm, and woody aroma that is sensual and romantic. Used traditionally as incense in religious ceremonies and for meditation, it is uplifting and relaxing. It is valued in skin care for its moisturizing and normalizing properties.

Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) (#3608), sometimes called “the scent of the sixties,” has a musky, earthy, exotic aroma. In Eastern cultures, it is commonly used around the house to provide general support for health and to help release negative emotions. It is very beneficial for the skin, helping to reduce a wrinkled or chapped appearance. Patchouli is a general tonic that supports the digestive system and soothes occasional queasiness.

Magnify Your Purpose™ (#3377) is a specially crafted blend of essential oils that stimulates creativity, desire, focus, and motivation. It helps foster a positive attitude, encouraging you to rise above adversity, seize the initiative, overcome procrastination and self-pity, and magnify your life’s purpose.

Harmony™ (#3351) is an exquisite blend that promotes physical and emotional well-being by bringing harmonic balance to the energy centers of the body. The liberating, balancing, and calming essential oils in this blend open us to new possibilities while contributing to an overall feeling of well-being.

Grounding™ (#3348) is a relaxing and balancing blend of essential oils that provides a stabilizing influence. Emotional chaos can lead to poor decisions. Grounding helps you cope with reality in a positive manner.

Highest Potential™ (#3373) is an exotic blend designed to increase your capacity to achieve your highest potential. It combines the uplifting and inspirational qualities of Australian Blue with the power of Gathering to help bring greater unity of purpose. Jasmine is added to enhance self-confidence, while ylang ylang calms, soothes, and harmonizes.

Tip: These make especially nice Holiday gifts for your friends and family who appreciate all-natural products.

Working with Emotions: Your Shadow & Aromatherapy eBookThe Shadow Side of our personalities is an essential part of all of us and as natural as our memory or our emotions. Within our Shadow, we store away those parts of us – whether emotions, thoughts, beliefs, experiences or characteristics – that we and others deem as bad, unacceptable, shameful, unlovable or dark. Fortunately, the Shadow isn’t all bad, in fact its quite good as it is one of the easiest routes for us to reach our goodness; our Light.

In this ebook, Evelyn Vincent and David Zarza C.Ht. teach you about your Shadow and Aromatherapy, as well as instructing you on how to use essential oils when working with your Shadow. In a safe and gentle way, you will be lead through a process of uncovering some of what is in your Shadow with the intention of integration and harmony. This is for you to appreciate yourself in a new light and perhaps even embrace your Shadow side.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Many of us make a particular gift in bulk every year for Christmas and hostess gifts to show our love and appreciation. To help keep you to your budget here’s an easy way to determine how much one drop of essential oil is going to cost when making your aromatherapy gifts.Essential oil used by the drop

Here’s how it’s done…

The price of your Young Living essential oil divided by one of these numbers, either…

  • 250 – the number of drops in a 15ml bottle, or…
  • 82 – the number of drops in a 5ml bottle

Let’s say you are a Young Living wholesale customer or distributor (learn more about those to save 24% off retail prices) and the total number of drops in your recipe is 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil (you’ve purchased a 15ml bottle), you would… divide the wholesale price by the total number of drops in either the 5ml or 15ml size bottles.

$19.75 (whsl cost of Peppermint oil) divided by 250 (# of drops in a 15ml bottle) = 0.079 cents per drop

Natural Dyes for Easter EggsThe egg is widely used as a symbol of the start of new life, just as new life emerges from an egg when the chick hatches out. Dyeing eggs with natural substances doesn’t take much more time than if you used commercial coloring kits – and it’s a lot more fun. You can be very creative with what is in your kitchen already and your Easter eggs can turn out very unique. For those who are highly creative, decorating your naturally dyed eggs can allow your artistic side to shine.

The colors and the substance that makes those colors:

These are either a spice, fruit, vegetable, or foodstuff that will color your Easter Eggs in a very safe way:

Red or Pink: Red beets, cranberries, frozen raspberries

Light Green: Spinach leaves

Yellow: Ground Cumin, Ground Tumeric, Shredded carrots

Blue: Blueberries, blackberries, red cabbage leaves, grape juice

Purple: Red Zinger tea (by Celestial Seasonings)

Brown: Brewed coffee

Here’s how to make your natural Easter Egg dye:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp. spice or 4 c. chopped fruit or vegetable, or more
  • 4 c. water, or more
  • 2 TBSP white vinegar

Directions:

Combine spice or foodstuff with water and vinegar.

Bring to a boil, then simmer for 15 to 30 minutes.

Eggs can be colored and cooked in the dye while it is being prepared. Or, they can be hard-cooked in advance, then dipped into the prepared dye (which can be either cold or hot).
