The Liver is the body’s largest internal organ and major detoxifier for the body. Even the toxins in the air we breathe are filtered by the liver, including chemicals from aerosol cleaners, paint, bug sprays, personal care products, household cleaning products, air fresheners, etc.

Juva Cleanse® provides support for the liver through a carefully formulated blend of therapeutic-grade essential oils that supports normal liver function.*

Clinical Studies Using Helichrysum, Ledum, Celery Seed Essential Oils (Juva Cleanse®)

Clinical studies show that an essential oil blend of helichrysum, ledum, and celery seed (Juva Cleanse®) dramatically amplified the elimination from the body of heavy metals, especially mercury, one of the most toxic of all non-radioactive metals. Mercury is particularly damaging to the brain and nervous system because it can pass through blood-brain barrier and accumulate indefinitely in motor neurons.

A 2003 clinical study involving a group of four patients tested the effect of three essential oils on the urinary output of mercury. Four healthy individuals (ages 27 to 69) took two capsules per day (approximately 1,500 mg) of a blend of helichrysum, ledum, and celery seed (the Juva Cleanse® essential oil blend). The first urine collection occurred prior to essential oil therapy, with the second and third urine collections occurring two and four days after essential oil therapy had begun. The results showed that all four participants more than doubled their urinary elimination of mercury over the four days of evaluation.

How to Use Juva Cleanse® Essential Oil Blend

  • Apply topically over liver or on foot Vita Flex points for the liver and kidneys.
  • Use with the Raindrop Technique.

Juva Cleanse® as a Dietary Supplement

  • Dilute 50:50 (with organic olive oil) and put in a size 0 capsule. Take twice daily.
  • Or, dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid such as goat’s or rice milk.

It has been taught by many health authorities that the liver is one of the body’s ways of shielding itself against disease. True enough, although the liver has more then one important function, one of these vital functions involves filtering the blood. Although the blood does (or, according to the Merck Manual is supposed to) neutralize unwanted pathogens of all kinds as well as other waste matters, these waste matters are then taken to Liver, which also processes bacteria and foreign particles absorbed by the intestines. It is then the livers job to deliver the waste to the gall bladder, and from there the waste is eliminated through the digestive tract. The problem is today, so many people’s livers and gallbladders are not doing what they are supposed to, and what they were designed to do.

There can be many reasons the liver isn’t doing it’s job anymore. In many cases, it my be because of constipation. If a person is constipated then the liver has nowhere to “dump” and a backing up process begins. The liver can also become sluggish due to poor lifestyle choices; fried foods, alcohol, white flour products, sugar, and junk food are all very hard on the liver. Other things that are hard on the liver include birth control, drugs (street and prescription), as well as insecticide, pesticide and other poisons such as working with mineral spirits and paint fumes. Some symptoms of a sluggish liver may include the following; Read the rest of this entry »

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more then one third of America’s adults are obese, which totals out to around 72 million people. A 2003-2004 test done by the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES),  indicated that an estimated 17 percent of children and adolescents ages (2-19) years are overweight. What’s worse, is that children who are overweight are more likely to struggle with weight problems for the rest of their lives.  When one considers all of the fat free, dieting fads, and weight loss supplements out there, the reason so many suffer from this is truly a mystery. Or is it? A thought to ponder is that the weight loss industry is a very big industry, and unfortunately if you lose weight permanently, the industry looses a customer! The flash diets are for the most part dangerous, and fat free foods are not only dangerous and bad for your body and brain, but they are a hoax.

It is important to realize that any truly good health program is not quick. The process in reprogramming the body takes time, and is like peeling an onion. Health authorities teach that no matter what is ailing you, there are 3 basic levels to getting well, cleansing, nourishing, and maintaining. And, there are steps to the levels which differ slightly depending on what your individual problem is!

The reason some  people (not all) have trouble loosing weight and keeping it off, is they see their health problem as more of an emotionally devastating problem, rather then a serious health problem that should be dealt with.  Therefore, the incentive to change their lifestyle is based on emotions that come and go. A true weight loss program is not a diet, it is a lifestyle change, an ongoing process of in with the good and out with the bad. A permanent change as this takes time, patience and determination. Whether a persons weight is from hormonal imbalance, or just plain overeating, a truly healthy lifestyle change can in time correct this according to leading health experts. In Core Nutrition Part I, and Core Nutrition Part II, we covered the first four of six important area’s the body can benefit tremendously from by taking on a consistent basis. These four area’s covered were, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, essential sugars, and probiotics. In way of review, health authorities have long since taught that in order to maintain and even acquire good health, one would do well to build a lifestyle of consistently cleansing and nourishing the body. These six area’s of supplementation have been being discovered to do just that. In this article on core nutrition, we will cover the last two supplements, a whole food supplement and enzymes.

A whole food supplement is nothing like the regular supplements people have purchased from health, grocery, and even drug stores for years. I am sure we have all heard it said that it is important to take a “good vitamin” or else you will just pee it out. Some people have noticed that their supplements never even dissolved (i.e. they were eliminated in other ways)! So many people have been on a vitamin/mineral supplement for years and never really noticed that it did much good. The thing is, most regular vitamin and mineral supplements are not easily absorbed by the body. The are ingested, but not assimilated. In other words, the molecule particles are either to true-sourcebig, or not recognized by the body as being a helpful nutrient.

Whole food supplements are completely different. I will never forget the first time I got on a whole food supplement. The energy I felt was remarkable. In way of testimony; when I was pregnant with my son, I took a regular health food store vitamin/mineral prenatal, I wanted to take a wholefood one, but didn’t think we could afford it at the time (generally they  range around $50.00 for a months supply). When I was pregnant with my daughter, we spared no expense, and I took a whole food supplement. The difference between the two babies health was phenomenal. My daughter was born in far better health they my boy. My son, to this day, has more little health problems compared to his sister who is the perfect picture of health. Never again will I mess around with anything other then a whole food supplement for this reason. One of the things I love about Young Livings True Source whole food supplement, is whole sale cost for it is less then $35.00, and it actually slightly exceeds the recommended daily intake (which is not a completely accurate guideline for what people really need, some may need more and some less). The wonderful thing about a whole food supplement, is you will never get too much vitamin A, or iron, and so on and so forth because it is in a condensed food form. Therefore all the vitamins and minerals that are needed by the body are absorbed, and any extra is simply discarded by the body! To view a pdf on True Source, click here.

Now we come to the area of enzymes. Enzymes could be considered both, nourishing and cleansing. Enzymes are a necessary component in every aspect of life, even cell function and especially in digestion of food. They break down food so that the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals may be absorbed into the body. When we are born, we are equipped with a certain amount of enzymes. As we age, these start to run out. When we eat cooked food, this takes enzymes from our bodies in order to digest the cooked food. Raw foods are full of enzymes and therefore beneficial to the body, especially since they may contain some enzymes our bodies do not. Since a lack of digestive enzymes in food forces the body to produce it its own an individuals own enzyme reserve may become depleted. In cases like this, the enzymes used to maintain a functional metabolism are taken to digest the food.

This is very bad since metabolic enzymes do more then just keep a person thin, they are also involved in every process of the body from the immune system, circulatory system, liver,  kidneys, spleen, pancreas, and even in vision, breathing and thinking! Clearly, if one does not eat all raw foods it may be wise to supplement with some enzymes. I have known people who used enzymes in between their meals to digest the undigested fats and proteins in their blood, and in turn they lost weight. One customer who came into the health food store where I used to work lost 60 lbs by doing this!

One of the wonderful things about therapeutic grade essential oils (the only kind Young Living provides)  is that they have the ability to perform as enzymes do. Therapeutic grade essential oils are pure, and high power (they are actually  tested to guarantee potency basically, and make sure they contain active ingredients in high enough quantities to produce results). These types of oils have been found to digest things in the body that are not supposed to be there, from undigested food particles in the blood to bad pathogens (germs). I used to assist a doctor with blood work at one of my jobs before I became a homemaker. In every single person who’s blood that was tested, be they with disease or supposedly perfectly healthy, there were undigested fats, proteins, and even parasites in the blood. These were three of the most common things we saw. Dr Gary Young, founder of Young Living, discovered this disturbing fact in his clinical observations as well, and he found that the blood could not penetrate the cells (bringing nutrients to them) like this because of low oxygen levels. He discovered that by enhancing supplements and foods with essential oils that nutrients were more easily absorbed, and that the undigested food particles were no longer detectable in the blood.

Young Living provides  a variety of wonderful, essential oil infused enzymes for specific needs. Essentialzyme is an advanced multiple enzyme formula for improving digestion and assimilation of nutrients, and it contains enzymes to assist pancreatic function. Carbozyme contains enzymes that are beneficial in digesting carbs, Lipozyme is to assist with the digestion of fats, and there is Polyzyme to help with proteins, and Detoxyzyme to help detox the body and digest.  Young Living also provides a delicious super food meal replacement that is packed with whole food nutrients, whey, wolfberries, fiber, and yes, even enzymes and essential oils. I actually give this to my children some days in place of a multivitamin as there is more too it, and they love it! *Note, those with stomach ulcers should not take enzymes containing protease until they have remedied the ulcer.

Lastly,  but not least, we come to the area of a body detox. To explain the concept of cleansing, or doing a body detox, let’s elaborate. Everyone has a trash can in their home. What would happen if nobody ever took the trash out when it was full? Soon it would be spilling over. Eventually it would start taking up more and more space in the room. The house would start stinking, and…you get the idea! This is similar to what happens to our bodies when we never detox. The healthier one’s lifestyle is, and the less chemicals they are exposed to, the less “trash” there is going to be and the less one would need to detox. Most people don’t have that healthy of a lifestyle though. Health authorities such as Carrie L’Esperance in her book Seasonal Detox suggest detoxing with the seasons change, even if fairly healthy. If you would like to know more about how and why to detox, see my articles on The Importance of a Body Detox.

After a detox fast, see previous article,  it is important not to undo everything that has just been done. Ways people undo their work of detoxing are by breaking a fast with heavy, cooked foods, like a hamburger and french fries for example! Health authorities say soft raw foods and broths are good to break a fast with, and it is so important to chew thoroughly! Food particles in the stomach that are too large can be very bad, you can even develop allergies to foods by not chewing properly and it is taught that many digestive problems could be corrected if people would just chew their food thoroughly. It is suggested that people take their time coming off a fast, and break into eating heavier foods slowly. Now would be a good time to start using some enzymes with each meal. Enzymes become depleted with age, and are necessary for proper cell function, and proper metabolism function as they help digest fats, proteins and carbohydrates (1). And don’t ever forget to drink PLENTY OF WATER!!! This is so important. It is suggested that women drink around a gallon a day, and men drink even more depending on their weight and stature. I am always amazed after I am done with a detoxing fast and feel so good, because it is then when I realize exactly how badly I was feeling before! I suspect many people don’t know how bad they are feeling and how much better they can feel. Things like clarity of mind and skin improve, sometimes little health problems vanish, and the thing I find interesting is the eyes. During a detox and especially a detox fast, your eyes may change colors! Blue eyes will often times become more clear and blue, some brown eyes will become hazel, and hazel eyes often start looking very dark blue! The eyes are a window into the body, and if you have ever been to an iridologist you know they can tell you things that are going on throughout your body before you even tell them. Iridologist’s know that murky browns in many eyes is a sign of toxins in the body, and interestingly enough people who are constipated usually have very brown centers close to the pupil of the eye, and after correcting the problem with cleansing this often clears up showing the true eye color.

The purpose of fasting is so that the body can rest from digesting food, and focus it’s energy on eliminating toxins and healing the body. In the book Essential Oils Desk Reference “An extremely important benefit of fasting is the elimination of toxins. By minimizing the work our digestive system must do, we allow it to repair itself and clean up stored toxins.” They go on to say “Exercise makes fasting work better, particularly if one is trying to lose weight.” According to M.D. Elson M. Haas, “Fasting clearly improves motivation and creative energy; it also enhances health and vitality and lets many of the body systems rest.” Read the rest of this entry »

In learning about alternative medicine, we are taught that the main concepts to facilitate greater health are quite simple; they are to create a lifestyle of cleansing and nourishing the body. The first step in this process is to cleanse or “detox”, and essential oils (only therapeutic grade) are proving themselves to be an invaluable asset to this process. Detoxing (also known as internal cleansing) is not a new concept. The Biblical account of Queen Esther teaches of how she went through a year of detoxification “purification” using herbs such as myrrh before she wedded King Ahasuerus! Those who are grandparents vividly remember the “Spring Tonics” and other home remedies they had to choke down when they were children, and those of us who are not grandparents remember our grandparents talking about them! These old fashioned “Spring Tonics” unfortunately have all but been forgotten now! One of the reasons people don’t detox anymore is because it has practically become a forgotten art and those who know about it do not realize the need for it.

Alas, when you consider the following, it becomes clear that there may be more need for detoxes then ever before! Did you know that health authorities teach that cleansing should not be just a once or twice a year event, but that it should be continuous? Dr. Richard Schulze taught that little things such as minor constipation for just one day can begin to contaminate the body and create a breeding ground for parasites, not to mention that the contents begin to rot and contaminate the entire body and also create a yeast/fungus overgrowth. The School of Natural Healing out of Utah teaches that when toxins begin to build up in the body, they can then find their way to the weakest areas of the body. For example, if somebody has weak kidneys or liver due to unhealthy lifestyle choices, or because of a genetic predisposition this is where the toxins will store up and they will further weaken these area’s. According to the Merck Manual of Medical Information, the blood has the capability’s of cleansing virus’s, bacteria, fungi, and other poisons. We must then ask ourselves, why hasn’t it been doing what they say it is capable of?

The problem is that so many peoples bodies are on overload already and the immune system cannot keep up. Today we are faced with more petrochemicals and toxins then our great grandparents ever were. Toxic/dangerous petrochemicals are found in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the household cleaning agents used in our work environment’s that further degrade the air, the body/skin care products used that are absorbed by the skin (I maintain that since the skin absorbs everything into the body that you really shouldn’t put anything on it you wouldn’t eat) and the list goes on of where we pick up toxins, not to mention that our bodies themselves create some just by normal cell turnover. When you consider all the above it is scary to think of how many of us have never detoxified our bodies! According to health practitioner’s some signs that a body may need cleansing include, loss of appetite, feeling sluggish or fatigued, constipation (of course!), the presence of disease, allergies, and skin problems to name a few.
