On the 6th day of Christmas Young Living scent to me, 6 Myrrh and Myrtle, 5 Balsam Fir, 4 Frankincense, 3 Wise Men, 2 NingXia Reds and a bottle of Lavender oil.
The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can be very trying and stress filled. At times many people are so consumed to get so many tasks accomplished that they may forget about the true meaning of Christmas. Hopefully they will be able to stop, take a breath, reach for a bottle of essential oil and feel the release of tension, become more at peace and be able to remember and reflect on what is most important to them in life.
Should I feel the need to boost my spirits or to desire a more peaceful feeling, I reach for a bottle of Myrrh and Myrtle, to diffuse. I feel a sense of peace and spiritual awakening. My entire day seems to have a more blessed feeling.
Myrrh (Commipihora myrrha) has a rich, smoky, balsamic aroma that is purifying, restorative, revitalizing, and uplifting. It is a helpful aid to meditation, having one of the highest levels of sesquiterpenes available. Sesquiterpenes are a class of compounds that have a direct effect on the hypothalamus, pituitary, and amygdala, the seat of our emotions. Myrrh is referenced throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. The Arabian people believed it helped wrinkled, chapped, and cracked skin. Today, myrrh is widely used in oral hygiene products.*
Historical Data: Myrrh is mentioned in one of the oldest known medical records, Ebers Papyrus (dating from sixteenth century B.C.) an ancient Egyptian list of 877 prescriptions and recipes. Myrrh was listed in Hildgards’ Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly-regarded Benedictine herbalist Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179)^

I have so many favorite Young Living oils, but I would say that Myrrh is one of my favorites for meditating.
Myrtle (Myrtus communis) has a clear, fresh, herbaceous scent, similar to eucalyptus. Supportive of the respiratory system, skin, and hair, it has been researched for its effects on glandular imbalances and its soothing effects when inhaled. It is also helpful for meditation and lifting the spirit.*
Historical Data: Myrtle has been researched by Dr. Daniel Penoel for normalizing hormonal imbalances of the thyroid and ovaries, as well as balancing the hypothyroid. It has also been researched for its soothing effects on the respiratory system.^
