Anxiety

We all want our homes and workplaces to smell good.  We subconsciously let scents directly affect our mood.  Typically, this is a good thing, except when we are inhaling toxic cancer causing chemicals disguised as innocent air fresheners.  Many health hazards were discussed in part 2 of this series.  If you have not yet read it, I encourage you to do so before reading about the safe, organic, non toxic choices below. Read part 2 here , read part 1 here

When I became involved with Young Living Essential Oils, I was ecstatic to learn about all of the safe non toxic, chemical free air freshener choices that were now available to me!

Today, much has been theorized regarding the effects of diffusing essential oils, which can be considered similar to the aromatic smoke used by Hippocrates. It has been hypothesized that when essential oils are diffused, they can increase atmospheric oxygen by releasing oxygenating molecules into the air. Not only can essential oils increase oxygen in the atmosphere, they also increase the body’s ability to transport oxygen into the cells. The lipid-soluble structure of essential oils allows them to easily penetrate the cell membranes of the nose and enter into the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, the oils can help transport oxygen and nutrients into the cells. Young Livings Feelings collection was designed to lift negative impressions and allow openness to new beginnings.  Everyone has experienced lasting adverse impressions that scar our inner self, prohibiting self growth and accomplishment.  “Negative experiences and ideas are recorded in our brains and locked into our memories throughout our lives.  These memories range from mild to extreme and have a profound effect on our health and happiness.  In order to become who we are intended to be, we must erase these negatives and reprogram our thoughts to make positive ideas our reality.” D. "There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Hi Everyone.  This is part 2 of my article.  It is meant to inform you about how the medical community thinks about pain, and why your doctor may have told you not to worry in the past.

Learning to treat pain effectively takes doctors years, if at all.  Doctors who specialize in PM&R (pain management and relief), are formally called physiatrists or sometimes informally as pain doctors.

One of the first things any doctor should learn is when to worry about pain, and I want you to know when to worry about it as well.   Since the medical community is taught to treat so many different kinds of pain, they need to know when to sound an alarm about a patient’s condition and how to act to treat them most effectively, giving them the most relief from their pain possible. If you’ve been experiencing pain, it’s important that you learn to think like a pain doctor. While these “rules” about when to worry certainly do not cover every person and every situation, (every person and situation is different, and YOU and only YOU know what is normal for your body),  they are important to know to get to the source of your problem.

How to Think Like the Medical Community and your Doctor:
1. Two-Week Rule

Any pain that lasts for more than two weeks should be checked out, period, end of sentence. A lot of people think that new pain without an acute injury, or fall, means that they have cancer. In fact, most, but of course not all,  new pain is due to bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, nerves and other musculoskeletal structures.  Many doctors use the two-week rule because a lot of musculoskeletal pain will resolve within a two-week period. Additionally,  a two-week delay in a true medical  diagnosis is very unlikely to change someone’s prognosis if the pain is in fact due to cancer. Though the two-week rule applies to most pain, there are times when doctors ignore this rule and become immediately concerned, as you will see below.

2. Acute-Trauma Rule
Doctors should immediately check all pain associated with acute trauma, such as a car accident or fall off a ladder, most other falls or injuries occured by being struck by something, or a traumatic fall of any kind.   Usually, people aren’t overly worried that cancer is causing this pain if they have trauma that results in immediate or even slightly delayed pain.  However, all severe pain associated with trauma should get an evaluation; this includes a physical examination by a doctor and potentially xrays or MRI’s to rule out a fracture.

3. Worst Pain of My Life Rule
Doctors should be alarmed at all  new and severe pain that a patient reports that is not related to any acute injury or fall.  It’s not unusual for you to actually say, “This is the worst pain I’ve ever experienced!”  Often, the “worst pain of my life” is not cancer, but may be the result of something else equally serious, such as a heart attack, dislocated joint,  appendicitis or ruptured blood vessel (aneurysm). If the pain is severe but chronic and you have sought your doctors help in acurately diagnosing it, , then the “alarm bells” are not as “alarming”.

4. I Can’t Sleep Rule

Doctors should be concerned about any pain that awakens a you out of a sound sleep at night. Sometimes, night pain is more serious than pain that occurs during the day with normal activities, where you are using the part of your body that is currently or recently been injured. This is because, typically, when you rest, pain gets better. Pain that doesn’t improve with rest is sometimes a reason to seek a diagnosis.  However, resting too much with chronic pain will most usually lead to weakness and more pain .  Continuous bedrest is rarely ordered by your doctor.   We do it to ourselves because initially, that’s the only time we don’t hurt.  If you do in fact have chronic pain, try to alternate rest with activity to stay strong and keep your overall pain levels down. Cancer pain is one type of pain that often usually improve with rest and typically will awaken you at night. However, it’s important to know that a lot if not most of musculoskeletal pain problems will bother patients at night. Hip bursitis or shoulder tendinitis can often keep a you awake if you  lie on the affected side and put pressure on the injured part of the body. It’s important not to make assumptions about what is causing night or bedtime sleep pain, and to find out the cause by seeking a medical diagnosis so that you can treat it correctly.
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that pain is misunderstood, undertreated and that doctors and patients need to work together better to find solutions. I personally turned to Young Living Essential Oils because my pain was not being mahaged at an acceptable level or in an acceptable way.  When someone tells you, “I’ve tried everything,” I often ask if they have seen a  doctort. If the answer is yes, and they are reasonably certain you have a correct diagnosis, exploring the use of Young Living Essential Oils to assist you in managing these daily issues may be the correct solution.  There are no addictive side effects, no systemic side effects, it’s safe to use them and drive a car and operate heavy machinery, and will most likely help you sleep better in the process!

Aside from working on the physical aspect of your aches and pains, the oils will also assist you in emotional balancing and relieving depression so often caused by the chronic pain those of us have.

When it comes time to studying for exams, no matter the age, sometimes focus, comprehension and clarity can be difficult. Simply inhaling any of these essential oils provides the brain with alertness and the ability to concentrate better.

Want good test scores: use the same essential oil during test-taking that you used during studying to facilitate recall!

The fragrance of a therapeutic-grade essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. When a fragrance is inhaled, the odor molecules travel up the nose where they are trapped by olfactory membranes that are well protected by the lining inside the nose. Each odor molecule fits like a little puzzle piece into specific receptor cell sites that line a membrane known as the olfactory epithelium. Each one of these hundreds of millions of nerve cells is replaced every 28 days. When stimulated by odor molecules, this lining of nerve cells triggers electrical impulses to the olfactory bulb in the brain. The olfactory bulb then transmits the impulses to the gustatory center (where the sensation of taste is perceived), the amygdala (where emotional memories are stored), and other parts of the limbic system of the brain. Because the limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance, essential oils can have profound physiological and psychological effects.

5 good Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils for focus, retention, recall and comprehension are:

1) Brain Power™ Essential Oil Blend (#3313)

Brain Power™ gives your brain a boost with essential oils that are high in sesquiterpenes. Use it to clarify thought and develop greater focus.

Clarity can also be used to help restore mental alertness or wakefulness when you are experiencing fatigue or drowsiness.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Everyone has experienced lasting adverse impressions that scar our inner self, prohibiting self growth and accomplishment. Inspired by D. Gary Young’s life experiences, the Feelings essential oil collection was designed to lift negative impressions and allow openness to new beginnings through the benefits of aromatherapy.

“Negative experiences and ideas are recorded in our brains and locked into our memories throughout our lives. These memories range from mild to extreme and have a profound effect on our health and happiness. In order to become who we are intended to be, we must erase these negatives and reprogram our thoughts to make positive ideas our reality.” ~ Gary Young

It has been said that when there is a conflict between reason and feeling, human beings will always side with feeling. According to Gary Young, “99% of life’s decisions are made from feelings.” Therefore, if you want your life to be guided by good decisions that lead to health, happiness, and fulfillment, you need to be aware of and in control of your present feelings and to learn how to release the repressed emotions of the past.

Most of our feelings from day to day are not responses to current happenings. They originate from the programming in cellular memory that was imprinted by the emotional experiences of our past that we were unable to understand, process, and resolve at the time.

By focusing on fixing your feelings, you can fix most aspects of your life… physical, mental, and spiritual. Essential oils and aromatherapy are perfect vehicles to help you in this task because their molecules pass directly to the emotional brain and can bring us into contact with the issues we have long forgotten and enable us to deal with them and resolve them.

Gary says, “Use the Feelings Kit. Apply feeling oils before work and every night before bed. Do this for 30 days and you will change your life.”

The Feelings Collection contains these 6 essential oil blends:

  • Valor
  • Harmony
  • Forgiveness
  • Inner Child
  • Release
  • Present Time

VALOR

Put Valor Oil on the soles of both feet at nighttime along with Highest Potential Blend. These blends are effective to erase limited thinking. Valor balances and equalizes the body’s energies thereby increasing oxygen intake to the pineal gland—the seat of our higher intelligence and intuitive faculties. You will wake up in the morning more self assured and more alive to start the day.

HARMONY

Massage one drop of Harmony Oil on each of the energy center points of your body. There are seven of them along the spine: Coccyx, Sacrum, Lumbar, Dorsal (heart), Cervical (where neck meets shoulders), and Medulla (hollow place at center base of skull), and Pineal (center of forehead). You can also massage Harmony on the crown of the head. Harmony balances the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems which, in turn, gives us progressive creativity and feelings of confidence.

“The biggest sin is not having confidence in yourself,” says Gary, “He who lacks confidence lacks life.”

FORGIVENESS

Apply Forgiveness Oil around the navel with the right hand going clockwise several times and think of situations where you need to forgive yourself or others. We beat up on ourselves, but everyone makes mistakes. Yet we struggle to forgive our own mistakes and those of others. Unforgiveness is one of the most common roots of physical, mental, and spiritual disease. Unforgiveness does not make the offending party sick. It makes us sick. Forgiveness is for our own benefit. It is accomplished in five steps.

  1. Forgive yourself for allowing the person to affect your health and happiness.
  2. Forgive the other person for any harm he or she may have caused you. (This need not be done directly with the person being forgiven, but is an inner adjustment on your part.)
  3. Give the other person permission to forgive you.
  4. See the good in the situation.
  5. Be thankful for the experience and the lesson it taught you.

Inhale and apply Forgiveness Oil while going through these steps and repeat as often as necessary toclear the feelings of unforgiveness.

RELEASE

Negative energy goes into the blood and then into the liver for cleansing where the toxins can remain trapped. Thus, the liver becomes a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive feelings. Apply a few drops of Release Oil on your tongue to release the poisons of stored emotions from the liver. Rub Release over the liver area. Drink lots of pure water and do a liver cleanse.

PRESENT TIME

When we live in the past or dwell on the future, we are not being productive in the present. Energize three drops of Present Time by making clockwise circles on the oil in the palm of your hand and then apply it to your thymus (the gland just under your sternum or breastbone). Besides keeping you focused on the tasks of today, this can also help you financially by increasing your abundance consciousness in the present.

INNER CHILD

“When you are a child all things are possible. There are no limitations,” says Gary Young. “When you find your inner child, you have found your true self. The child in you is your creativity.”

Apply one drop of Inner Child onto the pad of your thumb and then place your thumb onto the roof of your mouth. This opens the cranial sutures and stimulates the pineal, pituitary, and other organs of the emotional brain that occupy the space just above the roof of your mouth. Walking backwards while you have your thumb in your mouth looks stupid but it changes the rotation in the pelvis, elongating the spine, and decompressing the discs in your back. Thus, you can clear the nerve channels for energy to flow smoothly throughout your brain and body.

Use the Feelings Kit morning and night for 30 days. You will feel enthusiastic. Your life will be full of excitement. And people will be drawn to you like a magnet. Thought equals frequency. Essential oils absorb our thoughts. They are registered in the oils as intent. Intent is directed energy. When you apply an intent-energized oil on your feet they can saturate all of your cells within 60 seconds, stimulating creative thinking and pushing negative energy out of the cells, thus increasing the frequencies of the cells throughout the body. In that uplifted state you can create a new desire to be better tomorrow. You have no limitations but those you choose to accept.” ~ Gary Young

Following the Feelings regimen, one can begin the path of self identification by aligning their emotions. This collection of essential oils provides the foundation for emotional health.

Omega Blue (mercury-free fish oil supplement)Young Living, the world leader in essential oils, recently made a large donation of Omega Blue™ supplement to The Heritage School, a residential treatment center for at-risk adolescents. The donation will provide a year’s supply of the supplement to the school’s entire student body and is valued at more than $20,000. The school’s staff is already attributing improved behavior among the students to Omega Blue.

The omega-3 fatty acids found in Omega Blue—along with a proprietary blend of essential oils—support healthy cardiovascular and brain function. Omega-3s are also believed to stabilize mood and have a positive impact on depression.

I’m not at all surprised that the school is seeing vast improvement, it’s long been known that fish oil has dramatic affects on our brain’s chemistry and produces amazing results in emotional and physical health. I have always been a big fan of Young Living’s Omega Blue and highly recommend it! Omega Blue Fact Sheet.

Debbie Hamilton, director of health services at The Heritage School said…

“We have had a very encouraging response to Omega Blue. The quality of the product was recognized immediately by students, parents and staff members. We know that Omega Blue is a major contributing factor to the behavioral improvement we are seeing in many of our kids. Young Living’s generosity toward our school is greatly appreciated.”

The Heritage School is located in Provo, Utah, and offers a variety of therapy programs customized to fit the needs of each of its students. At-risk adolescents spend an average of 14 months at the school and then graduate equipped with the social and psychological tools they need to lead happy, productive lives.

“We are proud to be able to donate our products to an organization that does as much good as The Heritage School,” says Young Living CEO Doug Nelson. “Its mission of improving lives resonates with us, and it is a privilege to assist them in transforming the mental and physical health of their students.”
