Very Berry NingXia Red Breadwolfberry-goji-berry-cooking

Combine:

  • 3/4 cup brown rice flour
  • 1-1/4 cup barley flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch of sea salt

Add:

  • 2/3 cup Blue Agaveseasonal-09-ningxia-red
  • 2 bananas, lightly mashed
  • 1/2 cup wolfberries or blueberries
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 5-6 tablespoons NingXia Red
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup canola oil

While you are preparing this recipe, it’s always nice to have a glass of NingXia Red to sip on while working.  You get all the added benefits of super anti-oxidants.  How great is that!!

Beat ingredients on medium-high until well combined.  Pour batter into prepared bread loaf pan and put in oven on the middle rack.  Bake for 1 hour, until slightly dark on the edges and golden on the top. Use a knife around the edges of the pan, then wait 5 minutes and turn out onto a paper towel.  Place bread on serving plate.

Glaze

While the bread is baking, put 1/2 pint of cream and a spoonful of Blue Agave in a small sauce pan.  Stir well, cook on medium heat until it comes to a boil, then lower to a simmer.  Stir often until it is a light caramel color.  Avoid overcooking.  Remove pan from heat.  Pour glaze over bread, slice, and serve.

For gifts, let the bread cool and wrap in festive colored saran wrap. Or when guests are over, have slices of bread available for everyone to enjoy.

For several years now the market for anti-oxidants has been and still is very much in the fore-front of achieving better health.  Finding the best quality anti-oxidants can be hard to do, especially when you are shopping in some of the larger warehouse type stores and they have samples of good sounding anti-oxidant drinks. Many have caffeine and are sweetened with sugars or high sugar content fruit juices.  While they may taste pretty good, and give you a boost, the outcome is not entirely what is good for you.  This is partially due to the high sugar content and other additives that could be in the drink. On top of that, all you can do with it is drink it.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have an anti-oxidant that does not have caffeine, stimulant herbs, junk juices, and sugar?  Instead have an anti-oxidant drink you could mix in with foods, or to make delicious smoothies, recipes and gifts, and at the same time knowing that you may be improving your immune system?  How can you get all of this and more?  With NingXia Red, that’s how.

In addition to boosting energy, NingXia Red (read more here) is high in free radical fighting anti-oxidants.*  Our diets may be lacking in nutrients and we may feel fatigue and lack the energy to do things.  Sometimes in the afternoon to avoid fatigue and to give myself a boost, I will drink an ounce of NingXia Red. By simply fueling the body properly, we can provide ourselves with the nutrients we need and feel better throughout the day, and accelerate our selves to a healthier lifestyle.ningxia-red-singles

NingXia Red fortifies and delivers the naturally-occurring nutrients your body needs to stay healthy throughout the year.*  You can purchase NingXia Red in single packs, which comes in handy when you are on the go a lot.  I like to put some of the single packs in my freezer for a refreshing Popsicle like treat.  It is especially nice in the summers, and my grandchildren love them.

NingXia Red-Goji Berry (Wolfberry) Smoothie Recipe

Blend all of the following:

NingXia Red juice and Wolfberries

  • 1/3 cup Young Living Wolfberries (Goji Berries)
  • 1 organic banana, medium to large size, quartered
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 4 oz Young Livings NingXia Red juice
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream or coconut milk
  • 1 – 2 teaspoons Young Living Blue Agave
  • 1-2 drops of either Orange or Tangerine Young Living Essential Oil

UMMMMMMM, ENJOY!!

Now that fall is here I think more along the line of something warm.  A simple thing that I do that I enjoy is:

  • Heat water to almost boiling, then pour into a mug
  • Add 1 – 2 ounces of NingXia Red
  • Add 1-2 drops of Thieves essential oil blend.   Thieves® was created based on research about four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities. It is highly effective in supporting the immune system and good health.*

This is a yummy drink.  It not only warms your belly but you may be helping to build your immune system and also may get therapeutic value from the Thieves oil.  This is a really nice drink when you feel you need a boost to your immune system if you are feeling it being compromised by being around someone who is sick, or if you are feeling a change in your health.

Now you may better understand what I mean by NingXia Red being more than a super anti-oxidant.  Remember before you buy a new product, read the label and even learn a little bit about the companies background. If you want to learn about Young Living Essential oils founder Gary Young click here.

baby-bath-people-kidsFor the many  who are part of the baby boomer generation, our parents did not have to deal with what we are aware of in this generation of the 21st century.  Perhaps there were children then with ADD or ADHD, that were obese or had diabetes, but there was not a “label” put on them, rather they were just over active, hyper, inattentive, impatient, plump children.

We also now have the problem of fast foods, processed food (white flour, white sugar, and high fructose corn syrup), aspartame and many other toxins and chemicals in or foods, personal care products and nutritional products. I am certainly no expert, but I think one of our biggest problems with this current generation is related much to diet and environment (free radicals), hence; ADD, ADHD and so many other health concerns and problems, like child diabetes and obesity.

We live in such a fast paced society, filled with many stresses. Too many of us are more concerned about acquiring “things” and going, going, going.  We never have enough time.  Priorities, everyone’s are different, as they should be. We are all individuals and make our own choices in life.

When children are part of our lives, my feelings are they are one of our top priorities. My son is now 30 and he has turned out to be a very wonderful man, inside and out. Healthy, happy, creative, kind, a character, and loving. When he was growing up I knew he would be grown up and on his own before I wanted him to be. So I made sure to make him a top priority in my life and I spent as much time with him as possible.

I  blended his food, rather then buying the baby food from the stores. From the get go and all the time growing up he had a pretty healthy diet.  Sure we would do the occasional fast food and processed foods, but that was not a regular thing.  To me that is a big problem today, fast foods and processed foods are a too much a part of peoples diets. Why? Not enough time is taken to cook and prepare food the “old fashioned” way.

Hence the children today, are getting bombarded with awful diets. (Are they the Now Generation?  For some reason that is coming to mind, because they expect everything now.)

STOP TORTURING OUR CHILDREN!! You may not think that is what is happening, but I do.

  • No more white flour
  • No more white sugar
  • No more high fructose corn syrup
  • No more aspartame
  • No more processed foods, or at least cut back
  • No more fast foods, or at least change how you order
  • No more pop

Make these changes, maybe not all at once, but try to make them;

  • Drink NingXia Red – Super antioxidant to help fight free radicals and to help the immune system.  Children’s immune systems are weaker then adults.
  • Make time to cook for your family and do it together. Most kids love to be involved.  Cook larger quantities and freeze the excess for later meals.
  • Don’t purchase anything with aspartame in it. This is an awful ingredient that is used to artificially sweeten. Pretty much anything that says “sugar free”, has aspartame in it.  Even Splenda is not good, it is man made, processed and NOT natural.  Try using Stevia, which is a natural herb and has zero calories and is zero on the glycemic indexAgave is another good choice for sweetening. It is a lot like honey, but thinner in consistency and is lower on the glycemic index then honey.

Have cereal on hand and preferably something with higher fiber, which is also important in our diet and hard to get.  Fiber One is a great source of fiber, but lo and behold, what the heck, it has aspartame in it. What’s up with that?  Why do they need to put that in there.  Totally ruins the healthy aspects you are striving for in your diet.  I called and emailed General Mills about this, and to my surprise (ha), no one ever got back to me.

And if you are really choosing to make a difference, change your personal care products that are also full of chemicals, toxins and synthetics, start reading the labels.  And stay away from anything, just to name a few, that has sodium laureth sulfate,   or propylene glycol.

Young Living has all of your personal care needs, nutritional needs, pure, quality essential oils to help you raise your children towards this new healthier lifestyle. Soaking in the tub with essential oil bath salts is another good therapy.

  • Valor Roll-On-is an empowering combination of therapeutic-grade essential oils that works with both the physical and spiritual aspects of the body to increase feelings of strength, courage, and self-esteem in the face of adversity. Renowned for its strengthening qualities, Valor enhances an individual’s internal resources. It has also been found to help energy alignment in the body.*
  • RutaVala-promotes relaxation of the body and mind. It helps ease tension and relieve stress. The blend helps overcome negative feelings while encouraging a positive attitude and comfort.*
  • RutaVala Roll-On-is a proprietary blend of Ruta graveolens (rue), lavender, and valerian essential oils that promotes relaxation of the body and mind, soothes stressed nerves, and induces sleep.*
  • Put a few drops in their bath water with a handful of Epsom salt or a tablespoon of olive oil.  These help to disburse the oils.  These oils and roll-ons may help in calming the children, giving them confidence, and help them to feel less agitated.

Jump on the band wagon and help this generation and generations to come.  Help them to feel better, so that they can better deal with all the other crazy, sad stuff that our government is doing.  And teach them that life can be good  and less stressful by making better choices.

Oh my goodness, I think I could keep on writing for days on this subject.  But you parents, grandparents, siblings, whomever, that is helping to raise this generation, PLEASE!!! make these changes to help our children and future generations.  And then see the difference.  Perhaps the ADD, ADHD, diabetes and childhood obesity will lessen and our children will be calmer, more attentive, less angry and impatient, happier and healthier. Blessed are our children, as they are the future.

For years we’ve been programmed to believe that sports drinks are healthy and you need to replenish electrolytes after most any type of exercise. Upon closer examination we see that the food industry actually manipulates the truth and also outspends the drug industry in seeking to convince us that we ‘need’ their product(s).

In 2006, the food industry spent about $40 billion on advertising, advertising of course does not make a product healthy. The food industry spends billions of dollars make us think you’re buying something that’s good. Sports drinks alone hit $7.5 billion in sales in 2006.

High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is the number one source of calories in the US. Since the 1970s the use of HFCS has gone up more than 4000%, and it is found in candies, pretzels, crackers, hot dogs/processed meats, etc (read your labels, it’s in nearly everything). Using sugar substitutes in place of HFCS is an equally bad choice and a whole different topic.

Just like other sugars HFCS disrupts insulin levels, elevated insulin levels increase the risk of nearly every chronic disease known to man, including: cancer,  heart disease, diabetes, premature aging,  arthritis and osteoporosis  – you name it, and you will find elevated insulin levels as a primary factor.

There’s also that HFCS increases your triglyceride levels and LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Part of what makes HFCS such an unhealthy product is that it will tend to raise your blood sugar levels and cause sugar to attach to many of your body’s proteins, thus causing permanent damage to them. Because most fructose is consumed in liquid form, these negative metabolic effects are significantly magnified.

Excerpted from USA Today

“Health experts are worried about the possible effects on young athletes of popular energy drinks such as Red Bull.

High school and college athletes are increasingly consuming large quantities of these caffeine-loaded drinks to boost athletic performance or lose weig’ht. But athletes who consume too many energy drinks can suffer from dehydration, tremors, heat stroke and heart attacks.

Instead, teen and adolescent athletes should drink water while training and playing — especially during hot summer months. Some experts called for the U.S. FDA to require warning labels on the hundreds of energy drinks now on the market.”

It is, however, important to replace the water you’ve lost during exercise. But the question is: are sports drinks really as “essential” to young school athletes for this purpose as the manufacturers would like you to believe? Are they the best alternative for your children?

Well, no. They’re not. Neither are “energy” drinks like Red Bull and many others, which are high in caffeine, a natural diuretic, which will actually dehydrate your body further.

Your best bet for your primary fluid replacement is pure, fresh water (preferably not bottled water, filtering your own is cheaper and you can re-use your empty ‘glass’ NingXia Red bottles to store your water).

There are few things that are also important to know:

  1. Cool, or cold water is absorbed into the body faster and better than warm water, and
  2. Studies showed that when water was lightly flavored people drank more water, and
  3. Unflavored water leaves the body faster, which isn’t really what we want during hot summer days.

Electrolyte solutions are normally formed when natural salt (not table salt) is placed into water and the individual components dissociate due to the thermodynamic interactions between the water and solute molecules, in a process called solvation.

An electrolyte in a solution may be described as concentrated if it has a high concentration of ions, or dilute if it has a low concentration. If a high proportion of the solute dissociates to form free ions, the electrolyte is strong; if most of the solute does not dissociate, the electrolyte is weak. The properties of electrolytes may be exploited using electrolysis to extract constituent elements and compounds contained within the solution.

It is usually unnecessary to replace losses of sodium, potassium and other electrolytes during normal low-level exercise since it is unlikely that a significant depletion the body’s stores of these minerals will occur during normal training (this is assuming that one has a pretty good diet to begin with). However, in extreme exercising conditions over 5 or 6 hours (an Ironman or marathon) the consumption of a complex sports drink with electrolytes is recommended. Athletes who do not consume electrolytes under these conditions risk over-hydration (or hyponatremia).

Because sports drinks typically contain very high levels of sugar, they are not recommended for use by children. And as you could well imagine, they’re not terrific for teens, adults, or those suffering illnesses such as depression and other health conditions.

Sports drinks are also not appropriate for replacing the fluid lost during diarrhea. The role of sports drinks is to inhibit electrolyte loss but are insufficient to restore balance once it occurs. Electrolyte and sports drinks can be home-made by using the correct proportions of sugar, salt and water – see the recipe below and make your own high quality ‘Real’ electrolyte drink.
