Here’s how to prevent ants and mice from getting into your pantry…

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

AlkaLime supplement for pHYoung Living’s dietary supplement “AlkaLime” is a specially designed alkaline mineral powder containing an array of high-alkaline salts and other yeast and fungus fighting elements, such as citric acid and essential oils.

AlkaLime’s precisely balanced, acid-neutralizing mineral formulation helps preserve the body’s proper pH balance–the cornerstone of health. By boosting blood alkalinity, yeast and fungus are deprived of the acidic terrain they require to flourish (many diseases require acidic conditions to thrive and survive).

Using AlkaLime can help the effectiveness of other essential oils used as they are enhanced when the body’s blood and tissues are more alkaline.

How to Use AlkaLime:

Stir one teaspoon into 8 oz. of distilled or purified water, and drink immediately. Mix only with water.

To aid in alkalizing connective tissue:

AlkaLime may be taken 1-3 times per day one hour before meals or before eating. As an antacid, AlkaLime may be taken as needed. Otherwise, an ideal time to take AlkaLime would be prior to bedtime.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Warts are a virus that is easily spread by touching things and/or sharing towels, etc. The virus can enter skin through tiny (or not so tiny) cuts on the skin and kids who bite their nails, don’t wash hands thoroughly often enough are most susceptible. Warts can take 6 mos. to 2 yrs to go away on their own. The viruses that cause warts are passed from person to person by close physical contact or from a surface that a person with a wart touches, like a bathmat or a shower floor. A tiny cut or scratch can make any area of skin more vulnerable to warts. Also, picking at a wart can spread warts to other parts of the body.

I would say these would be in order…

  • Wash hands with Thieves Foaming Hand Soap at home at least 4x a day.
  • Thieves Waterless Hand Sanitizer (send each kid to school with a bottle).
  • Each kid has their own towel.
  • Use Thieves Household Cleaner for cleaning all surfaces around the home (it’s all-purpose so you can use it in place of all other cleaners, it’s cheaper in the long run compared to store bought cleaning products too, especially if you buy the 64oz. size). Thieves Cleaner can also be used in place of laundry detergent (use 1-2 capfuls per load, no laundry detergent or other products. Note: Thieves Cleaner will not make suds because it does not contain Sodium laurel sulfate (SLS) (which is the ingredient that makes ALL of the products we buy sudsy (it’s also toxic), just know that it is cleaning thoroughly.
  • I would also apply a few drops of the essential oil blend Melrose to the location, Melrose is good for warts and healing skin conditions.clove essential oil
  • I would add several drops of Clove, Lemongrass or Australian Blue essential oil to my Thieves Foaming Soap and Waterless Hand Purifier, Lemongrass is known for it’s anti-viral properties.
  • Don’t scrape or pick at the warts while waiting for them to go away as this will only prolong the issue, spread the virus, or complicate the matter.

Also make sure that your child:

  • soaks the wart in warm water and removes dead skin on the surface of the wart with an emery board (that’s never going to be used for nails) before applying any remedy. Be careful not to file into it.
  • keeps the area of the wart covered while the remedy works
  • knows not to rub, scratch, or pick at it to avoid spreading the virus to another part of the body or causing the wart to become infected.

Call your doctor if:

  • you have a young child or infant with a wart anywhere on the body
  • your child (of any age) has a wart on the face, genitals, or rectum

Also call the doctor if a wart or surrounding skin is:

  • painful
  • red
  • bleeding
  • swollen
  • oozing pus

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

Recently I had a severe panic attack, thinking someone had broken into our home. Even after I had checked the house, and felt certain no one had broken in, I could not shake the fear, anxiety or panic attack I was still having. I was sweating, my heart was racing, and I was still experiencing that panic fight or flight response, which is actually an Epinephrine rush.
I had already applied Young Living Essential Oils Peace and Calming, as well as Tranquil and Release. My panic attack would not go away. The anxiety was still front and center. I was still completely on edge and as jumpy as a cat on a hot tin roof. I applied Young Living Essential Oil Black Pepper. Within 10 minutes, that edgyness was gone, and slowly but surely, minute by minute, I began to relax. I felt the anxiety, the panic attack finally start to abate. I began to relax, my heart rate returning to normal. I’ve subsequently applied Black pepper to vitaflex points, as well as my wrists and forehead before I’m about to do something that always results in panic, like flying, or driving over very high bridges. It’s working. I’ve come to associate black pepper with a “black hole”. Anything that has the possibility of putting me in that bad, panic anxiety filled place, I apply black pepper with one of the other calming oils Young Living makes, and I’m getting much better results. Black Pepper is the “icing on the cake” if you will. I also believe based on the way Black Pepper worked for me, that it would be a fantastic oil in conjunction with another calming oil for people suffering from Stage Fright, which is a form of panic attack. Try adding Young Living Essential Oil Black Pepper to which ever calming and relaxing oil works best for you to assist in getting out of and releasing those panic attack, anxiety, negative feelings you get from time to time. I firmly feel if I had not added the Black Pepper Oil I never would have been able to go to sleep that night. Remember, link black Pepper to “black hole” in your mind, and hopefully the Black Pepper will be the finishing oil to relieving your anxiety as it has for me. I applied this oil neat to vitaflex points. I don’t ever use a carrier oil, and have never had any skin sensitivity. Depending on your own skin sensitivity, you may want to use a carrier oil, or one of Young Living’s calming Oil as your carrier oil.

Peppermint essential oilCooking with food-grade (therapeutic-grade) essential oils is a wonderful way to get clean and clear flavor into foods and beverages. This refreshing Peppermint Iced Tea recipe is easy and welcomed on hot summer days. Peppermint oil has a cooling effective on the body.

Young Living Peppermint or Spearmint essential oils can be added to chocolate cake, brownies, chocolate milk, hot chocolate, flavored ice cubes, chocolate truffles, or frosting recipes.

Cooking with Peppermint Oil Tip: This essential oil is extremely potent. It is estimated that one drop of Peppermint Oil (Young Living) equals 28 cups of peppermint tea… so, use a ‘light-touch’ when using Peppermint oil in your recipes!

Follow these Guidelines for Successful Cooking with Essential Oils.

How to Get Less Than One Drop of Essential Oil (important to know)

Peppermint (essential oil) Iced Tea

  • 4 Green Tea bags
  • 1/4 cup Agave
  • 3 drops Peppermint essential oil
  • 3 Limes, quartered
  • 64oz. water

In the bottom of a 64oz. pitcher, pour agave and peppermint oil. Pour hot water over top and stir. Add tea bags and steep 6-7 minutes (steeping herbs longer causes the bitter tannins to emerge into your tea). Squeeze a little and add limes. Allow tea to cool. Add ice to pitcher and to serving glasses. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a fresh berry.

Caution: Essential oils found in stores are not high enough quality (safe) to use as food additives. Please know your source and read the label before ingesting any essential oil.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

I’ve found it pretty easy to use my essential oils to keep crawling insects out of my home. The results are practically immediate. Plus, it makes the entire area smell really nice. What I also like about using essential oils for this type of purpose is that it helps me stay in alignment with my desire to maintain a natural home, no toxic products around here!

These are the 6 essential oils I typically use to deter crawling insects in my home:

  1. Peppermint
  2. Lemongrass
  3. Lavender
  4. Thyme
  5. Geranium
  6. Thieves

You can make a spray (for topical or for spraying into the air or on surfaces) from of any combination of the oils above, or simply put some drops of your chosen essential oils on a cotton ball and set it in the location, or diffuse (with the TheraPro Diffuser or nebulizer diffuser).Spider

I’ve also found that diffusing Thieves essential oil regularly (one to two times a week for about one hour) works very well to draw out and kill spiders. I rarely have spiders in my home just from simply diffusing Thieves essential oil. I also like to diffuse Thieves essential oil because it helps prevent mold.

How to Make a Crawling Insect Deterrent Spray

You’ll need:

  • 14oz. spray bottle (I prefer the ‘Hudson’ brand sold at Lowe’s)
  • 20-30 drops of your chosen essential oil or desired combination
  • Water

Fill bottle 7/8 full with water, add essential oils, shake, spray into the air /on surfaces that won’t become stained / topically.

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

  1. Stored Winter Clothing – keep moths out of your stored clothing by putting several drops of both Lavender and Cedarwood essential oils on a cotton ball where the clothing is stored.Lavender Essential Oil
  2. Mice Nests Indoors – use lots of Peppermint essential oil! Put drops directly on unfinished wooden surfaces, or put drops on a cotton ball and place cotton ball in desired locations. This WILL keep rodents away and chase them away if they’re already inside. You will have to refresh every so often for it to keep working. See My Story on Using Peppermint Essential Oil to Repel Squirrel’s and Rodents.
  3. Weed Killer – kill weeds with vinegar – PLEASE – note that the dilution ratio and how often it is used can create positive or negative results. Here’s an article I wrote on Weeds and Vinegar based on two Ag studies and on using vinegar in the garden effectively.
  4. Sleep Better – I have been scenting my bed linens every morning with an essential oil spray I make myself (it’s easy to do) when I make my bed for over 12 years now. It is so easy to do and I find it helps me feel and sleep so much better. Here’s an article I wrote, Aromatherapy Bed Linen Spray. Some of my favorite essential oil blends to incorporate into my bed linen spray are: Sensation, Thieves, Sacred Mountain, Humility, Gentle Baby, or Dream Catcher.
  5. Vinegar for Fleas and Ticks on Dogs – Add a teaspoon of white distilled vinegar for each quart bowl of drinking water helps keep your pet free of fleas and ticks. The ratio of one teaspoon to one quart is for a forty-pound animal. My dog is 80lbs. so I added 2 teaspoons and he hated the taste. Maybe you will have better success. I have also read that vinegar can be used as a spray on dogs to repel insects… I made a 4oz. spray (water with and 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar) and sprayed this on my dog who was scratching frantically because he got fleas… my results have been very good (I do not spray all the way down to his skin in most places though), his itching has stopped and he has been licking the vinegar/water spray mixture off of his coat, so maybe that’s how I can get him to ingest the vinegar mixture.  Note: spraying your dog’s skin too often with the water-vinegar spray can be harsh on your dog’s skin. See my article on Essential Oils and Ticks: removing and killing ticks effectively.
  6. Cure a cement pond before adding fish and plants by adding one gallon of white distilled vinegar to every 200 gallons of water. Let sit three days. Empty and rinse thoroughly.
  7. Keeping Cats Out of the Garden and Sand Box – Vinegar will help keep cats away from areas you don’t want them. Sprinkle vinegar on any areas where you don’t want the cat walking, sleeping, or scratching. Pour it around the perimeter of your children’s sandbox and repeat every two months and this will discourage cats from using it as their sandbox. Caution: Using Vinegar on grass or plants will kill them and can change the pH of your soil, so be mindful where you pour vinegar outside!

"There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." ~ R. Buckminster Fuller

I have been treating my auto immune Disease, SLE, Systemic Lupus for well over 10 years with a multitude of medications, including the steroi Prednisone.
I am currently having success by reducing the amount of Prednisone I take, and replacing it with the Young Living Essential Oils Fir and Sandalwood.
Fir imitates, or mimics steroids in the body.
I love to experiment with all Young Living Essential Oils, so I changed my daily oil routine. I added Balsam Fir and Sandalwood to my oral Myrrh and Frankincense capsule. Yes, mixed together. I dropped my intake of Prednisone at the same time. I also added Douglas and White Fir to vitaflex points as well as diffusing. To date, I feel good, not fantastic, but most definately very good, and I feel that way without taking very high toxic damaging doses of prednisone. My 6 month goal is to get off the Prednisone completely, while successfully managing my Systemic Lupus on the Essential Oils, a steroid free alternative way to trick your body into thinking it has been given steroids and Prednisone.
I initially had a short setback, with my sed rate shooting up. However, after 3 months of my new oil routine, my sed rate is now lower then it has ever been, and I feel good, actually better then I had been feeling before making this change.
Wish me luck on my continued path to wellness.
Some of you might think, well why doesn’t she just stop the Prednisone. Prednisone is a steroid, and all steroids are a type of drug you need to wean yourself off of slowly, and that is what I’m doing.
